CGI 3D Animated Golden Shot Short Film by Gökalp Gönen. Featured on www.cgmeetup.net/home/golden-s...
Rusty machines living in their small houses, imagine that the sun will come and take them to the sky someday. A small light, keeps them alive and dreaming. But one of the machines wants to see the sun itself and he has a plan for that.
Golden Shot is an animated short film that I produced in a year, with a scattered calendar, in 2014-2015. The film has been featured in more than 200 festival selections worldwide and has more than 25 awards.

Yes but should you bring everybody with you? Steal from them there life source and use it for your own gain? Forcing your ideology instead of asking? Even if the majority is okay with it, should you really left the ones against it to rot with all of the others? Idk I find this message kind of creepy.

JFlame yes but what does wasting actually mean? It is actually extremely vague. I could say at the same time that quilling every one without fully achieving your dream is the most meaningless and pointless thing in the video. So what do you actually mean?

@@umamifan all except that robot, of course, but that artificial sun secret has nothing to do with my main point that they could have shared energy from 1 light bulb. and if they did efficiently share a light bulb, the robot wouldn't have to have a secret of stealing other robots' bulbs because they'd be sharing one. therefore your point is nonexistent.

Quality of life over quantity of life. The one robot figured out that what they were doing wasn't living; it was just existing, so it used up all their remaining power all at once, but it was worth it since their collective dream finally came true.

I felt like this is a society of capitalism. Ppl all have money in their house. Some ppl die when it runs out, big corp steal all the money out of ur house and pocket by any means and methods, and make u be seduced and tempted that might make u feel like u are flying higher and higher , be rich and achieve fantasies u had in you, but when u are so close to it they cut the rope and let you fall to die because they dont want you to reach their position and get what they have... This is so sad ending imo

I interpret this film as a parallel to the evolution of mankind. One all of the bulbs were United, every individual experienced the power of every bulb at once, but since they all turned on at once, they all shut off at once. One great fire that burned incredibly fast. Once mankind units under one nation, the times will be wonderful, but quickly that nation will fall. Classic retelling of the fall of the great Roman Empire.

Gokalp, I as suppressed that you really read my comment, if I knew that you would read it I would have extended my thoughts. You have captured some aspect that is not totally in the human mind or emotion in you file. Ever Animation is or film, book, story is always something that emotes from the human mind. Your beings emoted an unknown feeling for the golden sun in the contraption that they viewed all day. I loved the way your being gentle circle the image of the sun, which he had never seen, with his unhuman finger. How he and is fellow beings would spend there mechanical time doing the same mechanical things - viewing images of an unknown --could it of been a past-- they don't know what a past is) but they do it as if it has meaning, but are your beings endowed with what meaning is? Replacing the source of their own illumination with a sense of importance but meaning- lessness. Him looking for a useful light bulb indicated to me that they had a limited amount of time left, but he didn't even know that. Watching out for the illumination of their fellow beings. I like how you gave them a sense of time with the wristwatch wish only had one purpose. It was all wonderful. A great ending that I myself is unable to articulate which also gives it a dimension that we human or your beings can not know. An insect my live close to this type of world. But I think not. Thank you for a most thoughtful experience and I hope a great future for you. P.S. Your film is so much more than your explanation.

Yeah, i love that you can see the unhappiness and fear that the robots live by thru the main character, and the robot that saved them seen that its no way to live life anymore for anyone, a slave basically, so he had the grand idea to enlighten the robots to experience true bliss and then give them a way out by shutting it down and killing them all. So what he did was a favor for them all

I kinda have mixed feelings about this video. It's sad because considering the inside of both houses we see they are forced to do nothing but replace lightbulbs otherwise they would die and are also forced to watch a prophecy over and over without no end, and in the end they died. Though I'm kinda happy because I think the robot powering the whole fake sun knew what he was doing, he never wanted anyone to live in misery so he fulfilled the prophecy, but he must've known something like that would waste a ton of electricity, but he didn't care, because he'd rather he and everyone else live a moment of pure joy than a life of nothing but misery. I wish the robot did find a way to keep the fake sun powered though, then it would be a truly happy ending

I actually like the ending. Either way, they were going to run out of lightbulbs. Continuing to live in a self-perpetuating state of misery in the hopes of paradise is worse than death. Letting them feel it, even for a second, is a thousand times better.

Spoiler alert: This is the whole lore. Press read more if u want to see it. Lore: These are robots that live off of light. Since they wait for the sun to rise for them, they have to read flip books. Whenever their light goes out, they have about 15-30 seconds until they die. While this happens someone sets up a ticking timer. When it’s red, they have to check on them, and maybe replace their lightbulbs. However, this one is confused and has to check on one that has no lightbulbs and has a mapping of some sort. Then, the one soon loses light, and has no spare lightbulbs. Then he almost dies. Suddenly, a giant bright light appears, which is an artificial sun! That’s what the mapping was. The light stretched across the whole place, then someone plugs in the last remaining light bulbs, and they all upgrade and grow wings. They could soon start to fly! But as they start flying, a few wires cut, and all the lights break, leaving them all to die. What a happy / sad ending.

gökalp gönen nice story and graphic , i couldn't understand the ending without your explanation but nice job as i couldn't believe this is one man job .i watched it twice and 2nd time was more clear for me but where is the sun ? as in the book the robot see his ancestors had sun and they had wings or it doesn't matter in the movie . and what is the relationship between the clock in his hand the next room light ? as his clock stopped when then the light of next door went off .

if the clock goes around 1 time the robot in the other room/cabin dies cause of no light cause the robots use light as power

This reminded me of the lines from "The "Dead", although, I guess "... “better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.” is not for everyone (like Gabriel himself). Some people will be saddened or upset with this ending, and that's ok.

For me it's weird they were sending their power into lightbulbs so that they could get power from the light, then I realized how much this seems like a dying world, one that might have once had a sun, and might of once had humans, when these robots were made getting power from light would make sense! But these robots weren't built to change, they just know that the light keeps them alive.

It’s interesting how many comments say they don’t understand the short, but that instinctively they know it’s great - and no just technically. I’m assuming it’s related to fossil fuel and alternative energy. There used to be a sun, there isn’t now, there’s a limited number of batteries… I’m not sure and I’m comfortable not being sure. I don’t think that final expression is one of happiness though. Looks more like surprise
