They gave it the same treatment as P4 Golden. New characters, new contents, new mechanics, new boss and new soundtrack. P5R also answered what happened to Akechi. The whole content of the third semester, especially the final palace is well-written and much better than the whole villains of the vanilla P5 combined. If you say P5R isn't canon then either you're in denial or you've never played the previous games like P4G or P3 Fes before.

Honestly didn't know how to feel about Kasumi when she was first announced to be in P5R, I found that some aspects on her design kind of felt like a copy of joker's, with their colour schemes and Kasumi's persona's second awakening looking similar to Arsène. Not to mention the whole romance thing, which annoyed me at the time. And some part of me would like to hold onto that, but tbh I recently got the game and I can't help but love her? Like, I have no idea why but I legit would marry her? I didn't romance anyone in P5 but like now in P5R It's like if I can't date Akechi & Kasumi at least I'll be allowed to have Kasumi as best girl waifu. She's adorable??? I love her so much XD

Spoilers ahead: Sumire’s design being a “copy” of Joker’s could also apply to the fact that she tried her best to live life like her sister would for so long. She thought herself more valuable if she were like her sister because Kasumi is the one that people want. Sumire saw herself as insignificant and no one would care if she died.

****MAJOR SPOILERS**** Hearing the song for this scene (Wish Come True) and knowing the true context behind the song and Sumi is high key heartbreaking. I can’t stress enough how genius Atlus is with the Megaten franchise, they just make the best characters in their games and develop them super well. In this scene, Sumire is able to fully embrace her false identity as Kasumi, finally becoming what she desired from Maruki, confident with her talent and whatnot. It makes the true/false ending of Royal even more tragic as you can see just how content she was living the lie that Maruki placed her in, and explains perfectly why she didn’t want to remember her true self during the third semester as she was finally able to become her sister.

The problem with Marie is she is too forced in Golden from start to finish. The problem with KaSumire is that she was only used in the last palace.

@@enriquepowers Too forced? You can skip Marie´s SL if you want and avoid her that nothing changes. Kasumi appears each month and you have scenes with her that can´t skip. You´ll spend time with her you like it or not and will hear conversations over her even if she isn´t present. She is shoehorned to the next lvl.

One of the best new scenes in P5R (probably the best one actually). It's a nice break from Phantom Thieves main story too (that stuff gets tiring sometimes), it's just full-on "hang out with someone". There were not a lot scenes (in P5 at least) that is completely distant from Phantom Thieves, main story and the 'finding the next target' obsession, though P5R still probably could added even more.

Honestly, when Joker hangs out with Sumi and Akechi, it’s like he’s not getting their input to help with PT business, he really just wants to hang out with them. And yes, there are barely moments where he just spend time with someone and it isn’t PT related. Every time he hangs out with the standard 7, it’s just another mission. With Sumi and Akechi, he just wanted to let some steam off and have fun.
