Ever wished you'd made more use of your camera in the past? Me too. Nostalgia certainly isn't what it used to be, y'know.

We wonder why there's a housing shortage when houses are pulled down only to be replaced with overgrown bushes.

pumpkin king that's one reason. Knocking down good decent housing is another thanks to the scum which is the Sheffield city Council.

The real reason for the houses being cleared and not replaced was pressure and funding from central government for slum clearances post WWII. It is the same in most northern cities. Huge swathes of manchester terraces were demolished on A57 I remember walking along the grass and observing the stones where the cellar grates were. Most of the old housing was built without internal plumbing and a proportion of it was back to backs. Probably in a poor state of repair and cheap rental.

My grandmother was born and brought up in Attercliffe. My parents were married in Darnall church and I was born in Darnall and went to Darnall Church School. It has all gone now, it seems like a wasteland. I find it incredibly sad.

These are done so beautifully may I say....Some of the shots of terraced housing cleared away in the 60's/70's and now look like waste land....really gets me as there's folks nowadays crying out for housing......it's the same here in Doncaster! I wish someone could do this for Doncaster photos....looks brilliant! Well done cgisarecrap!

Brinsworth Street looked nice with the Victorian Terraced houses and the traditional cobbled streets. Shame all of those houses were demolished :/

new hall road perfect example of a waste of good home that could have housed war veterans and homeless poor people, those houses survived the blitz so why knock them down for half a mile of weeds and bushes,im out of ideas here can anyone else see the point in knocking those strong Victorian houses down.this screams council money saved for the booming student life in Sheffield, lets face it that's what brings money into Sheffield now not the hammering of forge presses.

Only Sharrowvale Road remains the same - I have never known Attercliffe to be anything other than a area for factories and office blocks - mad seeing all the terraces there years ago!
