When making these videos, one question always comes into my mind when you see huge areas of terraced housing replaced by trees and bushes :
Where the hell did all those people go?
In the 1970s thousands of 'insanitary' properties were demolished across large areas in areas such as Attercliffe, Darnall and Burngreave.
Modern estates are more sparsely populated for the same given area, so the former residents of those areas must have been scattered far and wide.

I left Sheffield 70 years ago with my parents. However, I am certain that I would still love the Millhouses area.

cgisarecrap - The answer to your question is typically off to new build housing estates in places like Shiregreen and Manor Top. Intake was another suburb that these estates replaced, and was nothing but a village in open fields before the development. It why southern Sheffield just goes on and on and on, as each new development piled up, and yet in the north of the city you are in open countryside just a mile from Hillsborough football ground.

Councils will knock down decent buildings, buildings with character and throw up any old tat at the stroke of a pen with the excuse, "...aye lad well its needed and functional. We a'n't got time tuh design it. Square and rectangular is awrate!" (Screw the architecture!) Its not their money and just a job at the end of the day!
