This game was my reason for taking the plunge and purchasing a DS Lite years ago, and to this day, it is still probably my favorite game on the system.

Such a good game. I love how the music changes to be more intense, when played on hard mode. My friend and I would play this together at work, via the great wireless option, to give some vindication to our soul-sucking, call-center job.

This game is hard, REALLY FUCKING HARD. Like, holy shit. Beating this game on EASY is a chore. But then you get to the end, and it has the balls to tell you to go play on a different difficulty for the end levels. I tried to beat the 1st stage on Normal and got my ass stomped. I'm good at Contra, but this game is next lvl. Possibly the hardest contra, and the hardest DS game.

Contra Shattered Soldier is my favorite contra game, and frankly that's on the PS2. I played the NES and SNES ones, and Shattered Soldier removes the top down perspective completely leaving contra to be awesome contra.

From what I've heard and seen, Shattered Soldier sounds pretty good. It's on the PS2, and was a return to 2D from it's crappy PS1 counterparts.

Trying to find this game is so hard. I saw it at a store for $15 bucks while I was out of town a week or so ago, but I didn't have any money to get it. Now, I'm trying to find it online, but they're always like... $50 or something stupid like that.

That looks awesome, but I can't get past the dual screens. There's far too much separation between the two. Really, the DS strikes me as being designed for two discrete displays and not this 'seamless but not seamless' screen-panning gaming. Especially on a platformer/run-n-gun.

Contra 3 was my favorite. The way they made variety throughout every stage. This Contra 4 has little variety. It's like the developers didn't know what to do, so they retarded the series backward to the first Contra. Look at Gunstar Heroes, THAT's the evolution of contra. Don't like Contra 4 if ya can't tell. Nice graphics though.

I want to love this but I also find it's unfairly hard, and i'm not a bad player, i've finished many other Contra games. Such a waste as the game is great in all depts. but the frustration at the never ending cheap deaths on Normal mode stops it from being enjoyable.

Nintendo will always be the king of handheld. anyway, dual screen contra would fuck me up bad looking between both screens. what's horse shit is that Konami is too fucking lazy to make AAA contra and castlevania titles anymore, so companies like the ones who made Contra 4 should take over the reigns and make more classic Konami games, since they want to go mobile for some shitty reason. This game looks so good like the old school hard corps and alien wars. time to see how it plays on the SNES classic via rom.
