I like how CGR holds off on reviewing a lot of games, instead of playing for ten minutes and buying into the hype. This way you can play the game for a while, plus you have more updates and added content that wasn't there when it launched.

i finally got this game yesterday. it's exactly what i expected, and i didn't have my expectations high. you'd think that what I mean by that is that the game is stale, but for whatever reason it still feels really rewarding to play, especially with a friend.

what i don't get about these kind of games is that 95% of enemies just stand there like idiots and rarely anything threatens you except bosses and missed objectives. just my impression, i never got into dynasty warriors or this game.

Warriors Orochi is, in my opinion, the best way to start in the Dinasty Warriors series. You will see so much content you will be in shock. About the Hyrule Warriors and the DLC... Well, I can't say I'm happy with it. They knew they content would be desirable, and, I don't know, I am afraind Nintendo start to look at Capcom and, you know... I'm gonna get the game, but here in Brazil it costs more than 60 dollars. So, yeah. By the way, any chances to see a Warriors Orochi for the Wii U?

Dynasty Warriors is great because it's like playing the cgi cutscenes between the gameplay. Dont you hate when you play final fantasy or something and they're cutting down hordes of enemies in the cut scenes, then when you play the gameplay you can only fight like three enemies at once? Also most games would make you level up for 30 hours before you can do the stuff you can do in Dynasty Warriors. Dynasty Warriors starts you out in god mode right from the beginning!

As a player of both, I say if you are a Zelda fanatic definitely go for Hyrule Warriors. If you want one of the best action games by Platinum Games on the Wii U, get either Bayonetta 2 or The Wonderful 101. I like the W101 better but Bayo came EXTREMELY close to beating it out. Oh, I almost forgot, if you want 2 games for 1 buy Bayonetta 2 retail because it comes with the first one for free essentially.

I was never into Dynasty Warriors because it would tell me go help chingfexian or some complicated name and I was like who the fuck is that and would lose. So it wasn't for me and to be honest I wasn't to interested in hyrule warriors, but I knew I would get it eventually and when I did I was like dammit why didn't I get this sooner. It's so much fun and addicting. :)

While patching the Zelda franchise on top of the Dynasty Warriors franchise makes it a lot more accessible, the game doesn't have a long-lasting appeal. After the novelty of having an entirely new way to play Zelda wears off, you're left with what this game really is: A Dynasty Warriors title. Dynasty Warriors, as a franchise, is so mind-numbingly tedious, and personally I feel like it's an insult to me as a gamer. The alleged strategic component of the game is limited to RUN HERE, THEN RUN THERE. The combat is flashy and fun at first, but after a week of pulling off the same combos over and over again, you just end up feeling like you're going through the motions because for some reason you want to get all those heart pieces and skulltulas. The adventure mode ended up being a total quagmire of random missions, which is very disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I loved this game at first. Going through the story mode was fantastic, but the game loses most of its appeal after that. Whereas the Dynasty Warriors series aims to make you feel like the most powerful fighter in the universe, all it does for me is shout, loud and clear, that this game is too damn easy. Taking down bosses and larger enemies was cool at first, but it becomes so repetitive that you dread encountering another one of them because it's just not that fun after 100 times. The ability to kill 50+ enemies in one combo gives the game a very improbable feel, which is counterproductive for the goal of giving you the feeling that you're participating in an epic battle. I don't regret getting the game. I think it's a very commendable effort by Nintendo to put out such a unique game (on the system). It might be fun to pick up after waiting for a year or two. I don't feel like the DLC is even needed, since you'll most likely be bored of the game before you complete all the content in the main game.

That's exactly how I feel about the game too. No regrets as I got 25 hours before I couldn't take anymore. Those boss fights were horrible to repeat and the higher difficulty doesn't make them react differently, you just have to hit them over and over again

I just couldn't get into it. Part of it was the way the story was not only stupid and made no sense in the context of anything, and I'm just so happy that nothing about it is canon. Also, the gameplay just felt so mindless they might as well not even put in dynamic levels.

Play adventure mode and try unlocking level 3 weapons. It's much more difficult than the story mode. Speaking of story mode, try playing on hero mode if you want it to be difficult.

I see your point, but it really depends on the content within the game. Some 1vs1000 games don't have that much content or really any reason to keep playing other than unlocking characters. HW has the Adventure Mode where you're constantly challenged, and constantly unlocking new things, which is what kept me invested for so long.
