Fermented fish and paste is two different things by different names as hentak (fish paste) ngari (fermented fish) in manipur while the Chakmas called sidol (fermented dry fish or shrimps paste) only and fermented fish is called berma.Fermented paste is known by different names across southeast asian countries like ngapi,belacan, prahok, kapi and so on, but not the fermented fish.
