One thing nobody could ever accuse you of is being a slacker. Putting in the long hours is commendable.

I'm wondering the same thing as a few others. Why the heating and wire brushing? It looks as though you are straightening and thermal cycling the knife with the heating and clamping in the vice, but why the wire brush?

Epic video guys!! cant wait for part 2 :) Quick question I would like to forge a kitchen knife as well & I noticed at the end you guys heated the blades up before wire wheeling the profiles. It looks awesome! Is there some teaching behind it? Thanks in advance. Joe

Go, Chad! Great work. hats off to the camera operator and the editing. Really professional.

Why do you heat the blade and then hit it with the wire bruch on the angle grinder? Softening the finish on the edge?
@scotthagens66135 жыл бұрын
Chad, you narrowly missed thinning. You guys rock!

I am curious what the wire wheel in the angle grinder was for? I assume somewhat polish and blend everything together? Also what steel are you guys using? Might say that in the next video

Awesome effort guys! It is unfortunate that you guys have to stretch your time so thin to keep people coming to the channel. But it is variety that will defiantly help. Cool choice to bring us. Even small metal working tutorials will help. Belt Buckles, Rings, Key chain stuff. Even if you have done it before they all can be different. Keep on Choppin! And thanks for the show.

Dammit Liam, a respirator, use a respirator man! You can't have your face that close to the grinder and not snort a kilogram of steel dust! I'm wagging my finger at you! That s#!+ will ruin your day at the very least.

I don’t blacksmith so this isn’t criticism but a question, why did you not forge the the thickness down more, it seems pretty thick at the handle and at the spine. It just looks like you could save time grinding and save belts. I like how the knives are looking. I like chads profile more, I like the curve at the tip. Great work Liam

So it doesn't warp during heat treat? that's my guess... Disclaimer... Also not a blacksmith!
@okboston90865 жыл бұрын
Because, in a survival situation you want something to act as a ramp if you run off the road and end up in alligator infested quicksand surrounded by tarpits, you can throw the knife on the ground and dtive straight up the spine and back onto the road, away from those damn alligators

you guys really should be wearing some sort of dust mask or respirators. you might not think its bad right now but 10-20 yrs from now your lungs will be rusting. even cheap dust masks can help stop most metal dust inhalation. and a cheap $20 mic can help us hear you better.

Just because you don't have any effects now doesn't mean you won't later in life. Those fine steel bits settle into the avioli in your lungs and slowly cut and scar your tissues, eventually causing permanent, life threatening damage. There's no reason not to grind with PPE
