Mike Pottle I’m not a vert skater but I do love to have a try here and there, in the uk there are about 10 vert ramps in total 😂 so it’s not really something I could get into as it’s hard to access, getting comfortable with the speed and pump was so weird at first I just honestly can’t comprehend how he managed 2 proper lip tricks on his first sesh, hope to see another vid like this from him he could learn loads
@Zenguitarring4 жыл бұрын
@@euankirby5158 some ppl just got the sauce. I remember my first time ever at a skatepark long, longgg ago (right before the the skatepark boom around the millennium) at SCRAP near chicago. It had the only vert ramp in the state/region. I had never even seen a qtr pipe in real life. There was a kid a cpl yrs older than me, maybe 11 or 12. He was a total prodigy. Street, ramps, didn’t matter. The older bmx guys were wanting him to try the vert ramp. He padded up, was shaking, etc. after he drops in, the 1st try he went into an axle stall and rides right back to the other side. Without hesitation, he rips off all the pads and immediately drops back in and starts doing rock to fakies, 50-50s, and even f/s airs near the top of the transition. He never once fell on that vert ramp. It was absolutely one of the most inspiring things I’ve seen ever seen in my life to this day and remember it so clearly. the best part was it made me feel like such a wiener because I was scared to drop in on the 4 ft qtr. after I saw that, I went in the corner and dropped in a 4 ft’r. I was so sure that I was just going to smash my face in. Of course that didn’t happen. It was simple as pie and by the end of the session I had dropped in on the 6 ft mini ramp. If I hadn’t seen that kid go thru the process of self command and conquer, who knows how long it would’ve been until I actually tried. Goddamn I’m old 😔. Moral of the story is even though only a select few are born with next level skills, everybody has to overcome pain whether it be mental or physical at certain points of their life. You will be a stronger and more successful person in the long run.

I think most people respect vert skaters tbh, as far as skateboarding goes it's certainly among the scariest shit you can do. The scene is just so much smaller than street, unsurprisingly considering both the limited availability and the fact that it so fucking scary it's just really hard to get in to. But smaller transition and street has pretty much merged together over the past few years I feel like with parks becoming more and more available.

That’s awesome for a first session, straight into smiths too! Most people go for 5050’s or something a little simpler. Definitely try and get used to knee slides because running out starts to batter your feet and knee joints. I’ve been riding vert for about a month now (riding transition for a long while) and it feels like learning to skate transition all over again because the gravity and weight distribution on the vert wall is way different.I’m totally hooked though and doing it at least a couple of times a week.

When they bail they just glide off on their knee pads like they haven't just fallen 12 feet. Makes you deluded and you think "Hey, I could do that!" Vert is terrifying. If you disrespect it it will smash you up. haha Great vid, Chad. Fearless! I'd probably master your knee slide quick though otherwise you are going to smash your legs up!
