The stories of Pabuji Rathore have been recited by the Bhopa community of Rajsthan for centuries through the Phad -a style religious scroll painting. These recitals take place all night long. Pabuji is believed to be the incarnation of Laxman, brother of Ram. Communities in Rajasthan worship him as the Protector of camels and other domesticated animals. This song is a part of Pabuji’s wedding story; when he was leaving his village with his baraat to Amarkot (in Pakistan now) a lady from the Charan community, Deval blocked his way and questioned him regarding safety of the village and the fort. Pabuji assures her in his own way to not worry and that he would protect them. Bhavari Devi’s brilliant & strong vocals are joined by her son Krishna who sings additional parts to this folk song , these parts sung by Krishna are composed by Ram Sampath & written by Munna Dhiman, in a song that celebrates roots , traditions & the beauty of Rajsthan . Darshan Doshi plays a complex drum & bass groove to perfection in this Ram Sampath juxtaposition of the ancient & the new.

I am a Rajasthani too but was raised in Punjab. However, my family always kept me stringed to my culture. This is song is very traditional, language only my parents would understand. pabuji was a king in Rajasthan is revered as folk deity...he is regarded as protector of animals.... once pabuji was getting ready for marriage sitting on female horse....but one person commented that the mare wasn't looking nice and suggested to go to charani....a local women who possessed a beautiful white mare....so pabuji went there to ask her mare....bu charani was reluctant to give her mare to pabuji as she loved her so much and also the female horse protected her cows and other valuable... but when pabuji assured her that nothing will hapeen to cows as whenever charani felt any danger pabuji will be there to protect her animals.......so she was ready to give her mare to pabuji.... once in a while ....when she was in danger as some dakus (goons) attacked her cows... she sent some guy to call pabuji ....pabuji came to save her in mid of his marriage. as hebhad only taken 3 feras (circle) and went to help charani...and saved her cows but died in the process.....so he is revered as protector of animals....till now rajputs only take 3 pheras in memory of him in marriage......😊
