Hey Chad, Great video. As a long time fly fisherman and yak fly fisherman, one safety tip for you. I noticed you were not wearing a wading belt on your waders. Every fly fisherman will tell you that is a safety hazard since your waders can quickly fill if you fall in. A snug wading belt helps to limit the amount of water to take in at your feet…water in the lower section of your waders can make it difficult to swim, climb back into your kayak and even climb onto shore.
@ChadHooverFishing9 ай бұрын
That’s true if you aren’t filling up your waders like I am and wearing a PFD on top of them. We have also done pool testing on this repeatedly and dispelled this myth. If you fall out of a kayak the water pressure displaces the air and the pressure is equal on the outside and inside and there is nothing to “fill up” anymore. Wading in rivers is a different creature. I will do a video to demonstrate this point. Thanks for sharing

I wish we had places like this in east texas thanks chad you made me fidly spring for a fishing kayak after being on the fence for 3 years. Im so glad its been well worth it these last months. I rekindled my love for fishing becoz of your videos

The original reason I wanted a kayak was to be able to float trout streams in Western NC that couldn't be accessed legally by foot. But weighing in at 225lbs it was really hard to find an affordable creek boat. But with the industry being a lot more diversified than it was 15 years I might look back in to that.

Awsome brotha! I haven't been able to get out on my kayak for over a month now, I've been struggling to get over COVID-19, it's kicked my ass and left me weak. So I get stoked just watching you do what you do, living vicariously thru you till I can get back out. Thank you Chad!🤙

Nathan Fuentes - I feel you brother. I felt lethargic and had a terrible time sucking air in the gym for just around nine months after Covid. Take it easy on yourself and give yourself the time you need to heal. It's no joke. On the bright side, I did get better and I hope you do too.

Great tip about leaning into the rock. I manly kayak in still body's of water but the first time I went out on the river I about flipped. I don't care how good you are on slow moving water I mean I stand half the time I'm in my kayak but on moving water my butt is in the seat 100% of the time. Another great video man

My biggest safety tip for river fishing in a kayak is watch them overhanging trees! If your like me and have a rod or two stowed vertically they can get caught and snapped very quickly.

I wish I was exposed to Kayak fishing 30 years ago when I was at Penn State. Happy valley is a sportsman's paradise. I really can't complain much though, I now reside on the Nature Coast of Florida and get to kayak fish the flats a couple times a week.

Hey Chad awesome vid! Question for you, I think I see you have that Metanium MGL. I am getting one for my bday and wondering which rod to out it on. I usually take 6 rods with me during tournaments but I am having a hard time deciding on which rod I want to put the most expensive reel ill have on. I want to build a dedicated swim jig rod because its probably my favorite way to fish. What type if rod would you recommend?

If i worked at FishingChaos I would get a hold of the data from where people catch fish and just go to those spots. Someone is the company is definitely doing this whether it is permitted or not. Haha
@ChadHooverFishing3 жыл бұрын
Nope. They are not. For one, it’s only five of them. They live in Mobile, Alabama so most of the fish are entered in places they never go to. They are all also under performance and confidentiality agreements. I get it that we expect the worst out of people these days, but don’t you think anyone smart enough to build an app this advanced can also find their own fish… LOL
@ChadHooverFishing3 жыл бұрын
Apple and Samsung showing up to your fishing spots too? They have all the location data for all the fish photos you take on your phone, whether you allow them to or not… 😂😂😂😂

Jesus, no way I'm going in with a fishing kayak in that much current and shallow water. Hell no. Stay in the calmer areas, not those little rapids, wrong kind of boat. And you could head out with a Walmart Zebco and catch just as many fish 🙄
