Another thought for a good question. What if anything else would this rod be good for? Kinda important to limit the number of rods in a kayak.

small treble hook hard baits including 3 to 6 inch (75 to 150 mm) jerkbaits: floating/suspending/slow-rising/slow-sinking

Is a medium fast action rod okay for crankbaits
@ChadHooverFishing4 жыл бұрын
I prefer moderate action for crankbaits with just a few specialized exceptions. Medium is a power rating, not an action. So, a moderate fast will work, but I would suggest a moderate or moderate slow instead for most crankbait applications

Great tips Chad! Very helpful. Definitely didn't know that about the rod length w/ cranking rods.

A good quality reel with super-smooth drag set fairly loose helps a lot too. SO DOES THE STRETCH OF MONOFILAMENT LINE. I prefer the Lew's BB1 Pro reel like you do. Their TP1 Speed Stick called their "perfect crank-back rod" is amazing for only $100. The rod is 7' 3". Super light, very sensitive IM8 graphite blanks, great parabolic bend, well balanced, great components for the price. I love this rod, but I love all of the TP1 Speed Sticks. I haven't found a better $100 rod anywhere. After 2 years of hard fishing, I have yet to break one either.

Chad, Great rundown from all of those points about selecting a #CrankbaitRod I feel the number one aspect after the Length, Power. and Action would have to be the handle length. I've used the ones with lnger handles and it makes for a uncomfortable day of Cranking.
@michaeldelcambre3495 жыл бұрын
If you cannot get a parabolic rod at least use a fiberglass rod for treble hook baits. Will land more fish due to the way it loads and unloads slower.

One of your best video's! Question is how well would this rod doubling as a jerkbait rod, or would I need something different? And what is the actual difference? Another question is where is the best place to buy this rod?
@OddZ456 жыл бұрын
Great info chad, but my thumbs up is going out to your camera man or woman! thank you for the amazing wide footage to look at the rod and letting us see the bend in the rod play. LOVED IT!! That is a beautiful smiling face though. i do wanna see you hit that handle in one try again though;)

I have a Walmart kvd crank bait rod that was marked down from 149 to 49 thought I was getting out like a bandit when I first picked up the rod but after having it awhile I realize the rod has no give , but surprisingly haven't lost any fish, but still want to upgrade

Great video Chad. I am going to relook at all my rod reel set up on my crank bait rod. What braided line test do you use on crank setup (leader or no). Do you have a videos on top water rod setup and /or a jiggin’ setup? Keep me coming bro👍👊
@smcewen76 жыл бұрын
M&M Taxidermy use a good mono for crank baits,I use Berkley XL it's cheap and works great.You will just Rip the crank bait out with braided line,you need that stretch

@ashleem13876 жыл бұрын
You always need a baitcaster reel to operate a crankbait or can you use a spinner reel too?
@Ozzypup16 жыл бұрын
Ashlee M You can also use spinning reels for them. Thats all I used for years until I switched to baitcasters this year and I never had any problems.
