Inviting guy to a duel in the middle of the octagon in the first 10 seconds of the fight means that they are both willing to throw away their game plans for 10 seconds and just slug it out until somebody lands a serious shot. This move is Holloway's signature move right? he's been complimented on it many times and the latest one being Justin Gaethje knock-out. If Ilia does KO Max in the first 10 seconds of the fight because of it, he's reaching stardom. Remember when I said Max has a warrior's soul? if Ilia plays mind games with him, gaslights Max into believing that he has to enter that pocket if he's BMF enough, then Max is practically walking into Ilia's trap. This is some big IQ shit, it potentially could happen but I also see the fight just playing out without the cowboy shit. IF Ilia Topuria really does KO Max, I believe Max will retire from that division but just go up to 155 lb where he feels good and should've stayed at. It never works out when a fighter goes up a division then goes back down to the same division. That's cause they gained weight or actually feel better in that upper division especially when they been draining themselves for ao long it starts to affect their body that uppinf a weight class is less taxing and more freeing. That's why I kept telling people Max will feel much better at 155 than 145 when he fought Justin and look what happened

Anyone else think people are putting too much stock in Topuria’s knockout of Volk? It seems like the narrative really is, “Will Topuria knockout Holloway?” It’s definitely possible (given that it’ll likely be a mostly boxing match), but Topuria only has 1 knockout in his top-15 fights. Though Volk is his 1 KO in the top 15, there is an asterisk when you knockout someone who got KO’ed in his previous fight AND is over 35 (in the lighter weight classes). I still think Topuria’s the favorite, but Max has a historic chin and Topuria is not actually the knockout artist his Volk win would suggest he is (if you look at his record at the top of the division).

He beat Josh Emmett, Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway (Potentially) then he could move on to fight Diego López (Momentum) and then Yair Rodriguez would be a VERY tactically pleasing competition to watch! Ilia has greatness in him and has the potential to be a huge star for the next 10 years for us to watch. Poatan won’t be around forever, Izzy is looking toward the door, Volk is on the other side of his career, O’Malley isn’t as great as people think he is.. Merab is a decision fighter.. Ilia could be the cash cow to carry the UFC’s momentum.. he just needs to keep winning. That being said.. Max has my fucking heart brother..
