Funny story: I was working in my Univ project about making a board game prototype (yes, mine has a course about board games) and at one point looking for examples of a rulebook online aside from my memories of reading them. Then I found this game's publicly available prototype and used it as some sort of guideline for mine. So it's pretty fascinating to see the exact game here being shown.

Rodney, This is by far the best playthrough you have done! Do more like this! Not only is your explanation on point the sound is good and you’re not speaking too fast! I watch so many playthroughs that have too much background music or commotion going on or the speaker seems like they’re paying by the millisecond of airtime. This is how a winning board game tutorial should be. Good job and once again thank you.

Hey, who starts the next round? The player sitting next to the starting one or the player sitting next to the one who took the last turn? I think the rulebook says, it is the one sitting left of the starter, but in that case the player not necessarily have the same amount of turns. Thank you! 😀

Hi, Rodney! I'm here on a rec from the Kazmaiers, who I met online through being fellow due South fans (I'm the one they call "the biggest due South fan south of the border" -- and THEN I found out they are also fellow boardgamers and tea-lovers. They tell me you are also a due South fan and who sometimes cosplays a Mountie at conventions (I do too). This is a great instruction video, and I am looking forward to learning this game and others from your video instructions.

My copy of Chai came with 10 tip tokens - does this mean they've increased the number required or are they likely spares? Weirdly though the components list on the rules pamphlet state there are only 6 tokens in the box....
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
My guess is that those are spares. If they've changed the rules, that would be news to me.

Does the first player token move between rounds? Otherwise, in two player, the first player always sets the new cards.
@WatchItPlayed2 жыл бұрын
You start a new round by shuffling the tip tokens and placing one beside each tea cup. The next clockwise player from the one who ended the last round adds a new ability card before starting their turn.

Once fulfilling an order, does a player put the ingredients and tea token in any tea cup and collect that tip? And once all tips has been filled, the round is over?
@WatchItPlayed2 жыл бұрын
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
@amethystwolf245722 жыл бұрын
I also found this confusing, because it seems like each round would end pretty quickly. I suppose you could prolong the round by using the same tea cup, but then your opponent will simply snag it and the remaining tip. Seems to me you'll almost always fill between 4-6 orders in a game, unless someone plays very poorly.

Couple questions that came up during our first playthrough today: 1) does the gold tip coin tip ability mean the player gets a gold coin on top of the tip token or instead of? 2) does the gold tip coin ability also apply to the game end meaning that players cannot use this ability to still get a tip since the rules state no tips in the remainder of the final round (since the tokens are gone)?
