Really sad that you take it to the experts for service and have to go back for something like chain tension, I appreciate your comments about the NC750, which, was my first choice but ultimately decided on the 660 and I've enjoyed every moment with it.

Glad the issues were resolved. And good to hear you still like the TS660 after 600 miles. I just crossed 1,000 miles and completed the break-in period. I found the engine to run very hot during the first 100 miles, then less hot but still noticeable up to around my first service at 600 miles, then it seemed ok after that and I haven't really noticed it. Hopefully you'll have a similar experience. As for low end torque, when you're going 20 and twist the throttle, this bike jumps. I don't find it lacking. I know you're still in break-in and may be going easy on the throttle, but as you get some more miles on it give it some throttle at low speeds and see if you agree. Also, you may want to consider swapping to a 17 tooth front sprocket. It's a big improvement over stock gearing. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the tip on the chain tension. BTW, I love this bike, and I also own a Bonnie T120 for a different use case. You'll save yourself several $$$ in service costs with a paddock stand, torque wrench, and a set of Allen/Hex sockets(Harbor Freight). It's a worthwhile investment if you have a garage handy.

Paddock stands are great for checking chain slack & general maintenance.A chock for the front wheel is great too & is good for parking bike in & extends side stand life.

I have the quick shifter on the Trident 660. It REALLY loves high revs - I don't use the QS under 5000 rpm.

Hola, Soy de Concepción Chile, tengo la misma moto. A los 1000kms la llevé a su primer servicio y tuve el mismo problema en la cadena, un zumbido muy fuerte, le ajustaron (soltaron) la cadena pero el sonido no se fué totalmente,. saludos

How is the wind buffeting on the Triumph? I also owned cb500x and it was terrible for me at 6ft tall

@@davea9946 unforntunately, it's about the same as on the Honda. I even have tend to leave it in lower position to reduce the buffeting. Still, I love that bike !

Hey man! Also a Phoenix resident, N. Phoenix/Peoria area. I also had a TS660, bought mine from a dealership in Scottsdale. I have bought a Z900 in the past from the Kawasaki dealership that’s connected to the Triumph dealership in Mesa, and I gotta say, their customer service was great to me. I also noticed a lot of heat coming off the engine until I got the first service done. I don’t notice it now much, I have around 1,200 miles on mine.

All Bikes always run hot until they're run in.

@@chameleon932They run hot for the first 100km while the oil lubricants & smothers engine parts & all the metal is new & you can smell this till about 50km.That's why it is important to only do small runs like 20km for first 200km.It will take about a 1600km for the parts to bed in properly that's why new bikes get smoother & smoother over that 1600km.Also important not to redline motor & or go over 3/4 throttle during this period.Also lot's of gear changes & not staying in one gear for to long during the first 500miles(800).You don't have to do this & bike will run all the same but not as smooth as one that has been run in properly this is why some vehicles,bikes run better than others that are the same as parts in motor are slightly warped in the one's thrashed.Yes you can argue that they redline them during testing in the factory but that is for a short time to test it safe with fans blowing heat off.If you're buying a bike to keep run in gently & it be smoother in long run which means more economical & won't loose as much HP over time as a thrashed bike.Some people buy bikes thrash them for 3000km & trade them in & is also why demo bikes sell cheaper they still ok but not as good as one run in properly. When running a bike in you'll notice it gets faster over time like it did 60mph at 4200rpm & after 200miles does 63mph at 4200rpm etc as parts bed in & gets smoother.

Absolutely, tensioning a chain is a quick and straightforward adjustment. It's daunting the first time but no big deal, and necessary if you take the wheel off or do anything to the brakes.

I was wondering if you had any more issues with your Tiger 660 so far. I've had to change my clutch after 20,000km (12000 miles) but guarantee covered it. Also the fuel consumption in city is a problem. It's around 27 mpg if I do city. In the highway it's OK-ish. Two different dealers told me my consumption is fine but I beg to differ and sounds fishy to me. I am not sure if to change the motorcycle before I have more problems even if I have to lose money

My dealer is refusing to acknowledge my complaints about my quick shifter. I've ridden 4 different Triumphs, and this is my first quick shifter. It's not rocket science, mine randomly fails to shift from 2nd into 3rd. I'm really frustrated, the bike does it about 4 to 6 times on the average ride of 50 to 100 miles. I'm almost ready to make it turn into a Tracer GT Plus! Lol.

It's a shame because the clutch on this model is really nice. The manual shifting is so smooth.

My chain issue was caused by the dealership adjusting it wrong at my first service visit. It really didn't need any adjustment at that time and they shouldn't have even attempted it. That being said, how often the chain will need to be adjusted depends on the mileage and riding conditions. I like to check mine every 500 miles or so. If a person rides the bike hard it will likely need chain maintenance more often.

Lube every 300-350km & check adjustment every 1000km & adjust.Clean chain every 1000km.

It does heat up quite a bit for me personally. I notice it more when the temps are higher (above 100F). I feel the heat on my shins and ankles.

Probably the chain should be pretty tight. Here in Brazil, I noticed that there is a reverberation from the gearbox, between 70 and 80 km/h. But I believe this is because the chain is too tight. I still have 750 km on it, in engine break-in.

Spec on most bikes is 21-30mm. For wear and noise, LOOSER is better but you will be adjusting more often until the chain "settles" to avoid wearing the rub bar.
