THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!!! Yours is the FIRST bind off technique that gave me a square, STRETCHY border!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And did NOT drive me INSANE!!!!!)

You are very welcome. The first time I saw this technique, I said "shut the front door!! this actually makes sense." I had struggled with lots of bind offs that did not give me square edges and did not look anything like my cast on. I use a few other bind offs but this is definitely my favorite. I am so happy I was able to help you learn something useful. Happy knitting!

I appreciate your encouragement. I actually filmed this explanation for a group of ladies that live near my mother in law (about 1000 miles away) who expressed an interest in learning to loom knit. It's sort of a long distance demo. I am glad it helped you. Just remember to keep your stitches loose on the bind off so they have the same amount of stretch as your cast on. the goal is to make them look as similar as possible. Happy Knitting!

Did you start project with a knit stitch? Then bind off with pearl stitch?
@virginiacrawford78632 жыл бұрын
In this example, I did a chain cast on going from left to right (since I am right handed, I prefer to knit from left to right and purl from right to left so my hands do not block my view of the stitches). After my cast on, my working yarn is at the left side of the loom so I purl back to the other side. If you are counting this as my first stitch then yes, it is a purl. Then I began creating alternating rows of knit and purl stitches, always knitting from left to right and purling from right to left. When my piece reached the desired length, I purled from right to left and followed with a chain one bind off. My last row before my bind off was a purl row. I hope this answers your question. Happy looming!
