Definitely reminds me of Spit Out the Bone as well. I think it's the best single so far, but still not as good I expected (for a "best single" of the album). Kinda scared for the rest of the album. Also, I think the ending added here was unecessary.

I agree that this is probably their best song out of the singles released. The previous songs really do have some strange transitions that, for me, threw me out of the groove of the song. Highlight of this album I think is going to be James's vocals. He just has sounded great on all these singles.
@hjonkhjonkamgoose
@hjonkhjonkamgoose Жыл бұрын
I had honestly thought that James sounds very solid on this one. I was impressed immediately with his voice. But when I listened to ti the first time, I was like "that's it?" to the solos. I wasn't too impressed with the riffs either. The lyrics were decent, but wouldn't make sense at all unless you looked up what the song meant. I didn't like how he had to rush to say "72 seasons gone". He has to super sonic squeeze the word 72 in there. It doesn't flow at all. Overall, I respect people who say it's their favorite of the four, it's just not mine personally. :)

Throwbacks/Inspirations I found after about 6 listens: - Intro had hints of That was just your life. - Main riff and pre chorus clearly as you said close to Spit out the bone/Hardwired. - Verse riff is pretty stock, had a load/reload era sound. I feel it's got by now atleast 10 variations in their discography. - Middle section reminded me of All nightmare long, fast riff with the hi-hat and Crash. -From the Solo, Transition into third verse was eerily close to Moth into Flame.

I believe Spit out of the Bone is pretty straight forward thrashy progreassive banger with so many changes and every riff is great and can compete with best Metallica songs all time. It has more punch and heavy sci fi thematic. This one however has more pitch to it, and some groovy rock breakdowns. More like Moth into flame mashed with Hardwired. 40 years into their career, it's hard to ignore the drums and the solo. After 40 years, is this really the best Ulrich and Hammet can do? I think most who react to Metallica videos forget the amount of years they have been around and not just around but on top, granted they may not hold #1 today but when they come out with a track or album the WORLD looks to it, and in an age where self entitled "metal fans" think their band is the greatest ever, most of the world doesn't know them. After 43 years "well now 45 years" and still making new music and at their age you CAN NOT expect a new bag of tricks from Kirk Hammett, the new bag of tricks should be looked for in the new generation after him and we are not getting that.......at all, there still isn't a new Metallica, there still isn't a new Pantera, there still isn't a new Megadeath, all your bands fall short of what the OG did, at least pay some respect to the road they laid to get your bands here.

It feels like a Death Magnetic reject... which also got rejected from Beyond Magnetic. The solo's better, but it's telling that we're settling at not awful, the song's too long, the hi-hat is too high in the mix, James' playing and Rob are always solid but I'm just not feeling anything off this album.

I think it's okay. It's kinda similar to Lords of Summer which was okay as well but not good enough to make it to Hardwired

I feel like they are getting somewhere, but it still sounds generic. Idk how to phrase it properly, but Hetfields vocals are way better than melody itself but his vocals also reinforce the mediocrity of song
