Well, it worked! I limbed the tree and worked from the top to base incrementally. Smaller segments, not more than 2' long because I have to work alone, that means I get to move and carry everything. About 8' from the root crown the stump rose up about 3'. 2 more cuts lopping off another 4" and it tipped upright, slowly! Thanks for the assist!

Moondog9322 several years ago a child was killed while his father was doing the same thing. His father cut the tree (tree blew over in storm in yard) and the stumped crushed the boy.

Brian Smith It is a sad commentary, I am glad that you are watching a video, but the important thing is to take good care of our little children, do not underestimate anything.

Thanks for the videos! It gives me some good ideas about how to handle the downed Eastern Hemlock in my backyard. Though in my case the tree trunk is fully supported by the ground and I don't care about producing saw timber. BTW, I work much slower than the chap in the vid also!

I have never seen that done to a tree before! I have seen storms snap trees like they are toothpicks, I have seen trees torn apart, I have seen trunks snapped and shattered , I have seen trees rot and their own weight pulls themselves apart, but I have never seen a root system tipped up like a giant dinner plate before. How does that happen? Does the ground become very wet and soggy and the roots have nothing to hold onto? How does that happen??

Strong wipe or disprove whirlwind tree - spruce, which has its roots on the surface not very dohloubky and the thus refute, not even for the root stock to go if there was a man so harshly him and he was never found.

Spruce trees have very shallow root systems, so when a strong wind comes up the tree will either snap (break), or the whole root plate will get pulled up like in the video.

Schade,hätte noch besser ausgesehen wenn Druck und Zug am Stamm beachtet wäre! Windwurf ist immer was interessantes.
