Some folks posted it before, but it's worth repeating: THIS IS NOT A MOTOWN SONG, AND CHAKA DID NOT RECORD WITH MOTOWN! She did this song with Rufus in 1974-75, and was signed to ABC (I believe).

There was a QUADRAPHONIC version of the 'Rufusized" album that highlighted different instruments and CK's vocals and an alternative versions of the songs released for sale. Not sure how it was leaked but I have a copy of it. The QUAD version was not released for sale.

I have always preferred this version over what ended up on the album. I believe this appeared on the Quad version of the Rufusized album though. Shame on Universal for never bothering to reissue an expanded CD with the alternate versions.

I believe, from what I've read that Rufus and Chaka Khan's masters were destroyed in that Universal lot fire in June of 2008 along with 100's of other artists. I reached out to Bobby Watson on his KZbin channel who confirmed this also.

@@agwestbrook4112 Some of the masters destroyed. Not all of them. During pandemic. Questlove played unreleased vault material from the Ask Rufus sessions for us. Im sure there is plenty more where that came from. People are sitting on this stuff and not releasing the music for whatever reason. Universal has never bothered to domestically release a decent GH package on Rufus so clearly they are not considered a priority like some other artists who were once on their labels.
