The maestro has fallen silent. Quincy Jones, the titan of orchestration, the architect of soul, and the conductor of our musical dreams, has left this earthly stage. His passing marks the end of an era, a time when music was not just entertainment but a force for change, a mirror reflecting the depths of the human spirit. Quincy Jones was more than a musician; he was a visionary, a trailblazer who shattered barriers and redefined the boundaries of sound. His compositions were symphonies of emotion, his arrangements a tapestry woven with threads of jazz, funk, R&B, and pop. He was a master of melody, believing that it was the voice of God, a divine language that transcended cultures and generations. His influence extended far beyond the recording studio. He was a mentor, a collaborator, and an inspiration to countless artists, from Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson. His productions were not just albums; they were cultural touchstones, shaping the sound of an era and leaving an indelible mark on the history of music. In this age of uncertainty, where our values are under attack and our collective humanity is threatened, Quincy Jones' music offers a beacon of hope. His song "Everything Must Change" is a timeless anthem, a call to action for a better world. It is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always the possibility of renewal, of transformation, and of a brighter future. As we mourn the loss of this musical giant, let us celebrate his life and legacy. Let us remember the joy and inspiration he brought to the world, the countless lives he touched, and the timeless music he created. And let us carry his spirit forward, using his music as a tool for healing, for hope, and for the creation of a more just and equitable society. Goodbye, Sir Quincy Jones. Orchestrate the choirs of angels for us, and may your music continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come. March 14, 1933 - November 3, 2024.

She's just does it her way. She stamps her style on it and Red does his thang his way. The instrumental is off the shizizzle. In my opinion it didn't need a lot of people backing up the chorus because it is in unison. I guess it gives them a chance to sing with the Big Dawgs. Awesome performance.

@msl5253 Жыл бұрын
@@Billybofey What you just said was so subjective. Of course she has more than "2 great songs". I can roll of 20 off my head. And, she wouldn't have 10 grammys, and 22 nominations (should be more) if she only had "2 great songs". C'mon. SMH. That sounds silly, and highly personal. More importantly: What the poster said, who you responded to, can be labelled highly subjective as well. Cause, she's regarded by many of the top musicians; artist; writers; producers etc., as the most influential; imitated singer the past 50 years. Chaka's "greatness" is not how many record she sold, etc., It's in her impact on the business from the moment she stepped on the scene, and how she changed singing, female artist (whether she's widely credited or not on the latter) right up till now. And I say this in the highest sense of the word. So silly.

It's amazing how Quincy can put artists together and help to make such magic happen. I found that out with his *Back On the Block* album as he had rappers and jazz vocalists perform on the same songs. Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan singing/scattin', while Kool Moe D, Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane rapped. Plus Chaka and Ray Charles, with a duet, Siedah Garret, Tevin Campbell, and others doing their thing. Fabulous! I love Mick Hucknall of *Simply Red* and I love Chaka Kahn, and seeing/hearing them sing this together is wonderful.

In late 1973 or early 1974, I was working as a recording studio engineer trainee at A&M Records (the last group hired). Benard Ighner who composed "Everything Must Change" was hobbling around on crutches healing from a broken ankle. He invited me into Studio B, sat down at the piano and sang me his delicious song. It had not been released yet. What an honor. I FB messengered with him on 4/22/10. What a treat to reminisce with him. ♥ He signed off "The Best of Life to You" ♥

did he ever say what inspired him/moved him to write it ?

Beautiful! I wondered why Chaka had the music sheets; she killed it in Francophone ❤️That is why I love her. Amazing!

She did something similar when singing with Miles Davis, but she sounded so good that he didn’t seem to mind !

Breathtaking stuff!! Almost forgot human beings can produce such beauty through an orchestra of people. It's so sad that so many of our younger generation have never experienced this before and many never will as music exposure becomes so heavily controlled by those who respect only money and have little respect for music as an art form.

Richard Moonstone so true. I’m thankful for time spent in a few different choirs, as both a child and adult. My music teacher in primary school had a lifelong impact on me. Children are lucky if their schools have music programs now.
