I was at this show. It was for VH-1 Honors back in 1997 at the Universal Amphitheater. This performance was particularly phenomenal. Such a great evening.

This is a good Winwood track featuring Chaka. What is amazing to me is how well Chaka, one of the most powerful lead and improvizational vocalists ever, manages to stay in her secondary lead role and respect Steve's primary lead throughout this track. This is fairly easy for producers to control in a studio setting (check out the original version of this track), but much more difficult for a natural soloist to do live (check out any Patti LaBelle live collaboration). Go Steve!!! Go Chaka!!!

Kerry Howery You got it! Some are saying that she is singing flat. Little do they know how skilled this singer is and what she is doing to support Stevie W.

Let's just call this what it is, a great collaboration by two amazingly talented vocal powerhouses of our lifetime. This was Steve's song to sing lead on period, and Chaka complimented this live performance well. No negatives here, just real live , raw vocal talent for the ages. They don't write, and sing good songs this anymore is the only negative. That's why we all keeping coming back to KZbin.

And Steve Winwood had his first hit at 17 with the Spencer Davis Group. They are both great talents. Being from Chicago I can even remember that Rufus was the 60's band The American Breed before the name change.

It's amazing how critical some people are (in the comments). This is a LIVE performance, folks. True music lovers will love the energy and organic nature of this, regardless of pitch issues, mic issues, etc. Performances like this are what we live for, right? It gets no better, in my opinion, even if it were pitch-perfect, lyrically-perfect, sonically-perfect.

It's gotta' be Nile Rodgers right? The lights never come up on him, but I think it's him. From the hair, the style of the suit, and the style in general, it sure conjures Nile Rodgers. For me, Nile Rodgers is the best producer of the 1980s, and one of the best of all time, yes? He produced this song for Steve Winwood, right? And what a cool dude! He's battling cancer these days. I got to see him perform in Nashville with Chic. Nile Rodgers brings 'higher love' to everything he does.

OH Man, Classic Winwood: Steve is out there wailing like only he can do, the very best musicians & backup singers all around him. Now add in the dynamic, beautiful and adorable Mz. Chaka Khan along side of him, and in my opinion you have utter perfection. Would have loved to be there that night!

Lmao!!! It is so funny to me about these disparaging comments against Chaka Khan....These musical geniuses are criticizing a singer so well respected and revered in the music industry that the world's greatest singers sing her praises and feel she's as good as it gets!!! Patti Labelle:"There's no voice like a Chaka Khan voice, she can make me cry" Aretha Franklin: "A one of a kind premier singer"..."I just adore her"...."My son Clarence will put you in check real quick about Chaka Khan, real quick"!!! Quincy Jones: "America's Premier singer" Whitney Houston: "She's the best ya'll" Mary J Blige:"I wish I could only do some of what she does; She can make her voice do anything and make it go anywhere she wants it to go" Natalie Cole: "If they could bottle it we'd all be sounding like Chaka Khan" The list goes on..So all those negative comments are hilarious because in the grand scheme of things those who are truly musically gifted and actually do this for a living think exactly opposite as they do!!!

Nikita cavalli what a Heavenly voice Chaka Khan has. They had to turn her mic down or Stevie Winwood would not have even been heard. Everyone on the first few rows her her over Stevie Winwood even with his microphone. She is very gifted. She just opens her mouth in the music comes out.
