I wasn't necessarily a Pats fan then, but I was a Bledsoe and Ben Coats fan. I loved me some Terry Glenn, too. They were really THAT good. And I was a Brady fan from the moment he took over...but in my mind, it never diminished how good Bledsoe was.

@@hrhopeful1120 I have a brother in law by marriage who threw to both Terry Glenn and Joey Galloway, his name I think is Bobby Hoying, I met him at a family barbecue, thank you for mentioning Coates, he seems to be forgotten but in his prime, his reception numbers were like a regular receiver, I'm about to watch Jets vs. Patriots, if Pats lose, they face Dallas next week.

Absolutely! Every pats fan remembers why we were able to even draft drew Bledsoe. We were a horrible team and drew was our first round pick and bam! We have a good quarterback! Drew was a top five quarterback and he was ours. He was the leader that took us to the superbowl in “95”. Us pats fans actually had something to be proud of. I’m of the opinion that Pete Carroll really damaged Drew’s career. Then enter bill belichek and drew had a great coaching staff to help him get back to the great quarterback he was. As a football player, you don’t choose injuries! Injuries choose you! Tom Brady got his opportunity and never gave it up. But that doesn’t change anything about drew Bledsoe. He was a great player for many years and I as a lifelong patriots fan am grateful for drew Bledsoe and his contribution to our team! Patriots nation still loves you drew!

That's where Bellichick needed to take a lesson from him. Kraft wanted Drew to start but going with Brady i didn't think was the smarter decision still don't, cause the team was behind Drew, and at any course Drew could have tore that team apart, Brady is the luckiest son of a gun cause of this guy!! Brady was taught by this guy!! Drew was the old type of gunslinger, and Drew should have came back and had his job given back to him. He had the talent to earn those SBs. Brady dint have the talent that Drew did. If Drew doesn't win that AFC championship Brady doesn't win those SBs. Serious as a ❤️ attack. Drew is a class act. And Pete Carol was the worst thing for NE. As well Bellichick was Cheap as it got. Drew could have gotten 8 or 9 seriously. That's how good he was!!

As a lifelong Bostonian and Pats fan who was in my early 20’s in the end of the 90’s, I know how good you were Drew. I remember running into you, ZO, and a few others out and about in Boston, was always a great time. As far as a QB, you completely changed the culture of the Patriots. You were one of the toughest QB’s I’ve ever seen. Winning a game on a TD pass with pins sticking out of your index finger on your throwing hand is legendary. I always thought you should’ve started the SB in ‘01. I always will appreciate what you did here. One last thing, it definitely must’ve felt good when you laid a beating on the Pats game 1 in ‘03 after they cut your boy Lawyer.

Watch some of his games or highlights. He had an absolute cannon! Before him, we were a joke coming off of a 2-14 season.....in his second season,at 22 he led the entire NFL in passing! This was old-school rules where d.backs could basically block WR's on routes and jam them up to 10 yds, and safeties could headhunt the middle, QB's were allowed to be hit as hard as possible.....3k passing yds was the mark of a solid season and 4k was EXTREMELY rare, even for the top guys...and at 22 he had over 4600 passing yds! In his fourth year(3rd starting full season) he led us to a Superbowl and we were a legit postseason thteat from there on..... he made those 3-13, 2-14 seasons before he came a distant memory and was the first guy that gave Pats fans reason to believe! His decision making wasn't the greatest and he trusted his arm too much for his own good at times and he lacked mobility, but he was a tough dude that could literally make any/every throw!

Drew Bledsoe was the only idol I have ever had in my life and I love him for it! My Dad forced us to watch the Pats when they were a dumpster fire that was running the Zolaks and Easons to start at QB and just to win literally a COUPLE of games and hope the Pats weren't as embarrassing as the previous season. That was the best we could hope for when I was a young kid just learning the game, so you can imagine how mind numbingly boring that was at that age! I was much more familiar w/other teams and players! Then, I remember my Dad saying we should have dtafted Rick Mirer from Notre Dame at #1 overall. Then, literally the first start Drew made, during the first series or two, he suddenly changed his tune and anointed Bledsoe as the right pick! Even at a young age, I could see that Drew's arm was different.....and during his tenure, I actually looked forward to the Pats games! We were suddenly no longer a joke and became a legitimate postseason threat! Along the way, seeing Drew pass for like 4600 yds.in like his second season....when 3k was the plateau for passing yds, and 4k was extremely rare, even for the top guys, this 22 y.o playing for US did it, and I would play football w/my friends emulating him! We made that SB and if we didn't keep Brisby around to that point, didn't single White and played kick coverage, who knows? Lol! Then the pin in his finger, still throwing darts half the field long, and so on and so on. I grew up w/Drew! His TD to Patten in the AFC championship is how I remember him moving on! I was bitter and didn't accept Brady for a couple seasons, until he actually threw down field passes! Lol! Drew wasn't a top tier QB all told, but he was certainly higher end. His arm alone and what passes were possible because of that, his toughness and cool leadership made him special. His decision making at times, maybe trust in that cannon...and mobility were his problems at times! No matter what is said, Drew Bledsoe is the first guy that gave Patriots fans reason to believe! In his second season, he led the entire league in passing and in his Fourth he led us to the Superbowl.... suddenly that 2-14 season that led him to be our#1 pick seemed so long ago! Drew is a rare breed that you can let your kid put faith in and trust to be a class act! Will always be my guy! Thanks #11!

As a lifelong New Englander and Pats fan, I'll always respect and appreciate Drew Bledsoe. He came in with Bill Parcells and Robert Kraft and began to turn the franchise around. The Pats had some good teams in the 70s and 80s, but eventually bad ownership left the team in a really bad state in the early 90s. He eventually lost his job to a better QB (some guy named Brady), but there's no shame in that. He should be very proud of his career. Thanks for everything, Drew.

As a kid i went to see a Patriots practice with one of my brothers and my father. Bledsoe was the last guy off the field (by a long shot) and we waited by the exit for him. He tossed his sweat bands to the crowd. My brother got one and i got the other. I still have that beat up nfl sweatband almost 25 years later. He took the time to sign EVERYTHING that people were holding out for him too. His touchdown pass in the '00/'01 playoffs against the steelers after brady got hurt is still one of my favorite sports moments...that and his stage dive at the evercleat concert🎉

drew bledsoe was a gentleman, when i was young i catered up in the clubhouse when the team would eat during their training camp,we would bring the food hot and just bring it and leave it for them mso this day i was late and brought up the food late, and the guys started in on the food with no utensils and when i came back to deliver them these guys started giving me a real hard time.there was a guy digging lasagna out of the pan with his hands,so bledsoe comes in and stops all the team when he said give the man a chance to feed us,its just his job not his fault, that gave me the best respect for a man and leader.

Bledsoe key to changing the franchise. I remember every kid in school having a Bledsoe jersey. Now he always comes off like a guy just nailing his post playing career. Super cool, healthy, owning a winery? Good for him.

First video. Hooked. Thanks Chris! Drew Bledsoe. As a Patriots fan...he is to New England as is Steve Grogan was. Blood. Sweat. Tears. Hands down! Great interview! I appreciate your approach to the interview as a former player...but also...human. The reality and realness of the game both off and on the field. Awesome. I'm fucking pumped for more interesting stuff from you.

10:25-Drew Bledose made a great point because I am just getting over a hand and wrist injury from falling during a football game, Playing O-Line happen to get caught in a crowd of bodies and I fell right on top of my hand because I stuck it out to catch myself. Damn now I know.

Longtime Patriots fan here. Absolutely love Drew. I had every single Bledsoe rookie. I truly believe he was a major part of the Patriots dramatic turn around from worst to consistently competitive and exciting to watch. I even hated Brady the first couple years despite the championship. We are forever grateful for your years as a patriot

Met Drew (over the phone) back in like 2000 when interviewing him for my article in Patriots Football Weekly. Then met him in person while on vacation in Whitefish, he was test driving a white Porsche. Couldn't have been nicer n more down to earth.

He came out right when I first got into football. Was the first player I became a fan of and followed. Will always have a soft spot for Drew. Also: Reggie White was such a beast. Would literally pick up and throw 330lb linemen with one hand, I'd never seen anything like it before (or since).

Drew Bledsoe is one of, if not the first, quarterback to usher in the sling it all day gameplan. Yes, they still had a great running game, but i remember the talking heads just could not believe how many times the Pats were passing thr ball. It was new-ish, Marino and Kelly, to name a couple, were great passers, but my opinion is Drew was the first young QB of that era to pave the way for the likes of Brees, Manning etc.

3k passing yds was the mark of a great season back then. When Drew was 22 y.o, he led the NFL in passing w/over 4600 yds. Lol. The thing that made it extra crazy, was that he did this while playing for Bill Parcells....THE definition of a smashmouth, run first head coach! Early on, Parcells conceded that "If we want to move the damn ball, it's gonna' be w/the kid's arm"! Early on, before Curtis Martin, our running backs were atrocious! (Marion Butts, anyone?) Bledsoe had 70+ attempts in a single game that year! Lol.

November 13, 1994, Bledsoe went 45-70, the Patriots never ran it once in the second half, Kevin Turner, since deceased, caught winning TD in overtime.
