Halfway through your video I started to realize there was something very familiar about what you were making. I realized that this is very much like the loaf of stuffing I make at Thanksgiving. Yours is moist and fluffy, mine is moist and dense but ultimately they are very much the same thing. I look forward to trying your method.

Thanks for this recipe. Jamie, my mouth was watering all through the video. I'd go to the ends of the earth for a challah kugel like you made. I would be honored to have on my shabbos table your bubby's challah kugel. Your bubby is (was) very smart. This recipe reminds me of my late mother's bread pudding recipe. The story goes when my family moved to Israel, Beersheva to be precise we lived in an ulpan and my mom noticed that the dinning room (we ate communal style)kitchen staff were throwing away just day old bread, so my mom asked the minahale (head of the kitchen) if she can have the kitchen and requested all the ingredients she needed and the minahale obliged and my mother made her famous bread pudding and gave the minahale a taste and he/she was very impressed and hooked and asked my mother if she would accept a job in their kitchen but, my mom said "she doesn't cook for others" after this incident, we had bread pudding that was coming out of our ears but, my late mother did a mitzvah (just like you're doing) by not wasting day old challah, bread. Question- can you add onions to your challah kugel? Obviously if you use old onion rolls or onion challah it would have onions automatically-am I right? Thanks again I also loved your video immensely.

I have boycotted on cooking for my blended family. I made cholent recently after I returned from Israel. it was beautiful. One certain family member dissected it and made commentary on it she was medical school. It was delicious. But, this isn’t the first time my food has been dissected and commented upon like she’s Gordon Ramsey or something. I was going to make Challah kugel (Thanksgiving style) for Thanksgiving, then remembered the aforementioned experience. So this year now she is making the Thanksgiving meal.

"Homemade" Noodles' veggie Kugle equally cuts the muster folding in chopped choice greens, garlic 'n shallots thinly sliced as an alternative to the even more fruity Challah Kugle concentrated with diced apricots, apples, raisins 'n prunes tinged with rum.

Never use moldy bread, even if you're able to cut out the mold. The problem is that most mold is invisible. If there's enough visible mold to cut, the bread is already shot full of mold you can't see yet

at first, I didn't notice that you have another sink in your kitchen, so you can scratch that last comment. I only saw the one sink. So, you can disregard my comment from before. My only comment now is that it looks "icky" with the sponge when you are squeezing the liquid out of the colander.

I know this is 3 years old, but I felt compelled to say its pretty shady to be looking for problems with Jamie's kitchen in a video sharing a RECIPE. Like you felt you HAD to comment with something to criticise her about. Try looking for things to compliment instead.

In the North of England they say if you eat the crust it gives you curly hair. Something a little more serious, much of the flavour is in the crust. Try it. Taste the same bread with and without crust.

Why would you dry out the challah bread and then pour water over it? Also, the seasoned breadcrumbs are not a binder. The eggs are the binder.

You say that you leave them diced uncovered over night so they are not to moist. But the next thing you soak them with water. I will have to try this but I never have any leftover challah so i need to bake some extra challahs just for this.

actually I learned in chumash that kugle is hinted to in parshat behaaloticha when it talks anout the maan beacause the pasuk says the maan was kiagul, like it was round. kiagul is the same shoresh as kugle, and that is where we learn kugle in the parsha.

Thank You very much, I also learned this recipe from my Grandparents. But If I may add, you can add some fresh lemon juice if you want and dice in some tiny pieces of apple. Yummy. And if your really lazy, you can leave the crust but soak it in water a little more and squeeze it out. I dont make cubes I just make one big mushy thing with the water.

I didn't grown up this way either :-) We will try to work it into our production schedule as soon as we are able (but note it could take us some time).

+MrLinushka challah is jewish brioche, just like gefilte fish is jewish quenelles. the challah kugel could use some honey whipped cream on the side, that would be very british and totally dairy -- but i think i might use schmaltz instead of oi to brown the crust of the kugel. that bumps it up a notch or two! can you make gefilte fish with catfish or walleye pike? i have a blender and would love to try.
@MrLinushka
@MrLinushka 9 жыл бұрын
Hollis Evon Ramsey ye's i know it's similar but i believe brioche hot a lot of butter...challah doesn't...challah got some oil and eggs. i meant that challah will never survive few weeks because it's delicious and so versatile.

I didn't hear a blessing. Are you shy to thank Hashem? Was it cut off the video? Next time please do Kidush Hashem and say a blessing out loud and also Amen. It's the minimum we can do to thank Hashem. Anyway, what is the blessing? Hamotzi? SheHacol? Mezonot? I enjoy your videos we are proud Jews:)
@fairygirl69
@fairygirl69 6 жыл бұрын
I'm not Jewish (Roman Catholic) but the absence of the blessing caught my attention. I was under the impression that you needed to thank G-d for everything. Even if it's just a Diet Coke? I really liked your Rabbi and that he refers to his wife as his princess.

I think Jamie takes the chabad approach to inclusivity. She is trying to make it open for all. And she mentioned that she had already been feeding the Rabbi so they likely already blessed. I'm a secular but knowledgeable Jew with a modern Orthodox brother. If she was mentioning Hashem every minute it would make people like me or non-Jews as uncomfortable as if I was watching a soul food recipe where they kept talking about jesus. Cooking videos especially cultural ones should be about sharing a part of who we are with the world not vainly trying to prove what perfect Jews they are for others.
