Got wet hands during watching your videos! All 4 parts! You are bold but think logic! Outstanding, but high risk! Not about the drone! But yourself, man! They watch you anyway in Spain, they know who you are! You performed like a kind of hero. Finally you did show how save drones are (almost). Remember, you are not Chè! Safe your existence for UAV-Lovers/Pilots etc. We need you! :-)

dingo7055 hey man. What are the laws of flying drones in australia?
@dingo70558 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks man! I'm going to publish some new videos real soon, it's been far too long. :)
@dingo70558 жыл бұрын
***** We are very lucky, we have some of the most liberal Drone laws in Australasia. But they are still pretty strict. Basically *anybody* flying a drone, must fly within "Line Of Sight" (which is why you'd be fined for doing a stunt like in this video), must not fly within 5.5kms of an airport, we must not fly within "restricted airspace" (some military or government land), we must not fly within 30 meters of people, cars or boats, and we must not fly over a populated area (like houses) or large groups of people or sporting events. Also - there is an altitude limit of 120 meters or 400 feet for drones. Fines for violating any of these conditions can be very high. One guy in the last two weeks got fined 9000$ for flying a drone to his local hardware store to buy and carry a hot dog for a KZbin Stunt. To make $$ out of drones, up until September this year, you 100% needed an "RPL" (Remote Pilot License) - which costs thousands and is basically training halfway to becoming a helicopter pilot. But since September, the Government (yay!) loosened this law so that if you are flying a drone that is "Sub 2kg" (Such as the DJI Phantom Series), you can fly for money, but you still must follow the rules, and you have to "Register" your drone with CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority), and you must submit a "Flight plan" of sorts 5 days in advance of your flight. I'm getting into the drone business, and the new Sub 2kg laws is the best thing for small business, one of the rare occasions our Government gets it right.

@dingo70558 жыл бұрын
Samuel Quinn Hah hah... Even if he can see it, he can't fly it from that distance via LOS, he's 100% reliant on the (very flaky) video connection. If you think about it, what he did here is technically incredibly unsafe, but I have enough faith in the Phantom 4 that if anything had gone terribly wrong, minor injury might have resulted at worst.

Got a little tense towards the end, but that's what made it a great video. I mean, you know the drone makes it, since the video is not titled "watch me lose my drone at 8km" or "watch my epic drone crash from 3k meters altitude, but then again, you never know, right? Wouldn't be the first time a video had a bad title, lol. Sounds like a lot of planning went in to this accomplishment. I am happy for you. You have inspired me to try something similar, although on a smaller scale. Hope my neighbors don't shoot it out of the sky though.

@yamahass668 жыл бұрын
mavic has a range of 4km or 7 depending of where you live not 8.
@MythicSageV28 жыл бұрын
yamahaevo phantom 4 has a rated range of 5km and reached 8km in this video. If mavic pro has a rated distance of 7km you can extrapolate that the mavic pro will most likely fly further than the Phantom if he used it instead.
@aledthomas65258 жыл бұрын
The phantom 4 doesn't have an advertised range of 8km either. Think you'd find it is somewhere around 5km (not sure tbh) don't take advertised specs as gospel. they probably use an averaged number from testing it in different spots. perfect conditions i guess. Mavic is advertised for 7km in America and 4km in Uk
@AdventuristoSupremo8 жыл бұрын
Mavic has a 7 km range where the P4 has a 5 km range, and it has a better, more solid video signal. So in certain circumstances if a P4 can do 8 km, it's quite possible that the Mavic could do 11 km.

What was your plan if you lost signal close to landing? The "return home" obviously wouldn't have worked if you spent 50% batt going down, you won't be getting back up with 50%... So what would have happened, if you lost signal towards the end?
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
In the previous video I tested this. Initially it will want to return to home, but if the battery level is at some 12% it will start to land automatically.
@Juanito04208 жыл бұрын

Aren't there any devices that you can use to trace its location if it falls to earth? I've seen some items advertised on the net for finding stolen bicycles and it's no bigger then a button.
@mcbrite8 жыл бұрын
86fanatic It's already tracked on the map? I guess you could put an additional tracker on it, but tracing the flight recorder should be enough, no?

DJI record all their drone owners' telemetry, so not only would they not honour his warranty if he complained that it crashed (since he was flying illegally and irresponsibly), but they'd probably report him to the authorities.

I am new to drones. How can he fly at so far away? are they connected via cell phone towers? How does he do it
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
It uses a wifi signal at 2.4Ghz. That can get very far out in the open with good line of sight.
@IlyasWidaad8 жыл бұрын
I don't think that is it. Wifi has a limitation of about 1000 ft. tops.... we're talking 5 or so MILES... and the only way for wifi to work would be with a directional antenna.
@ipariszalonna8 жыл бұрын
The DJI Phantom 4 has a proprietary wireless connection to the controller but there are wifi solutions too that work from a surprising distance.
@IlyasWidaad8 жыл бұрын
yep as I said, Directional antenna's work extremely well. They can go for MILES. But anything outside of that technology is just not possible? I'm an IT Tech, so I'm well versed in this stuff. I just can't see a 2.8 Ghz wifi signal going nearly 5 miles with no directional antennas
@IlyasWidaad8 жыл бұрын
2.4Ghz, Sorry :)
@skyearthocean58158 жыл бұрын
How is 70% battery low? Is it calculating being able to return to you?
@MrCow5798 жыл бұрын
its probably calculating being able to land at a safezone with an x amount of battery remaining so it wont just fall down from the sky
@skyearthocean58158 жыл бұрын
So essentially if it's out of range, or the battery is low it auto-lands in one of the safe zones?
@MrCow5798 жыл бұрын
FrequentFlier Anon it autolands on a place which you set as a "safe zone" from what i've heard
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
See description :-). I had set it to return to me when signal got lost. Then I would regain control at some point and look for a spot to land if the battery was to low.
@GeorgeHafiz8 жыл бұрын
I may be giving it too much credit but it probably realised it would have to ascend a significant amount, so proportionally the return to home flight would require much more power than was needed to reach the battery warning.
