I love my SXT Challenger. It's 305 hp V6 is more than comparable to the 4 bbl 383 Magnum V8 from 1970 which had a whopping 335 hp. When you own a 1000hp Hellcat, you are obviously going to be underwhelmed with an SXT. If you are a Dodge or muscle car enthusiast, don't be scared away because it's not a V8. You won't be disappointed. The V6, especially in sport mode, is pretty badass. I want a V8 like everyone else, but sometimes you have to be smart financially. My car was a steal at 23k for an SXT plus. The short of it, yeah it's worth owning.

The V6 SXT will move out as well or better than V8 Challengers of the early 70s (318, 340, 383) and use a lot less gas doing it. Pretty impressive for a car that weighs a lot more. You could get a 426 or 440 but not everybody needed or wanted that then either.

Exactly. I don’t think people have an accurate perspective on power anymore- that 305 HP is right in line with what the older muscle cars had. And the HP back then was overrated (inaccurate) anyway.

I bought that same car last month and I love it. I used that 0-60 timer and got 6.0 seconds, I can't imagine needing more than that just driving around town. Had it up to 120 on the freeway and it handled like a dream. When I win the lottery I'll get the hell cat and lose my license.

Bought my first v6,,,,,, a 2015 Challenger, I always had V8 cars. I was worried sick that I wouldn't like the V6. Mine is the SXT Plus with the track pack which gives me a larger positraction rear end with upgraded suspension, 20" tires and the bigger front brakes. This car flies. From a stop light or on the Turnpike, or at 100mph, it cruses great, it passes great and it rides with a big car feel.I am not racing it but I drive it fast . No complaints with the V6.

I’m a owner of a 1995 Toyota Avalon . Today my company rented a car for me to travel somewhere and it was a SXT base model. Guys there is nothing wrong with this car. I promise you this car has a lots of power to it . SXT all the way. I know there are other beasts out there but this car is fantastic . Good for you if you have a SXT V6.

I drove a 2007 and 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse each for about two years. Compared to them a Challenger has no blindspot and vision is fine. I let the passenger's front seat up just a couple of notches so I can see out the quarter window so no problem. It's land yacht luxury coupe and in no way a sports car. Quick though and MPG is awesome. Got 32 once on a trip to the beach. Though not a sports car and it wallows a little on the road, at over 100 and up it is very controllable and smooth..

Since this review SXT now has AWD. I just got a 2022 SXT+ AWD a few weeks ago. It’s an amazing vehicle. When the temps change to below 40 and the AWD/cold weather package kicks in, it is like a different car. Turns into a beast in the winter.

Just bought a "23" SXT Plum Crazy Blacktop and love it. I'm 65 and have owned the early Mopars while growing up. Not many 16 year olds had "68" Coronet R/T 440's, and at 17, a "69" Charger R/T 440 six pack. My hi speed days are over and this is the perfect Mopar for the classic look, easy on the wallet and very fun to drive. Great video!

Yes. Dodge sells more 6 cylinders than any other model. It is their most popular car model seller. 305HP is plenty fast for most who want good milage and a nice ride. Also it would be nice if Dodge can get the HP up to 350HP on the 6s, and maybe the RT to 420HP and the SCAT up 550HP. Who knows maybe the refresh will push it further.

I love my SXT. I’m getting mods added to increase the HP to give it that extra kick most wouldn’t expect from it (if they know the difference since many think I have a Hellcat 😂). He’s my daily driver. No matter where I go, people absolutely love him and compliment him! I do love the feel of the ride and love the speed it has based on wise. I want more, but I’ll get a power pack vs a true race version that’ll have me at the gas station just from touching the gas after turning it on 😂 But I love all Challenger models! I’m happy to be part of the club!

The reality is, and this is what I'm facing as I go to test drive an sxt today, is that no one cares what's under the hood. It looks great, and unless you're racing...YOU DON'T NEED THE POWER. I'd argue that just adding a cold air (or even short ram) intake for less than $300 gives just enough of a boost to make the SXT feel right.

I have a 2018 GT. V6 with awd is great. Its a perfect daily driver for all weather conditions. Glad the normal SXT has sport mode, but the GT has performance pages and many features of the higher packages. 2 piston brakes, leather, moon roof, paddle shifters, etc. Plus the awd has a different suspension. A modified charger pursuit suspension. Def sits higher, curbs are no problem. Please review the awd. You reviewed the charger awd but the challenger awd is a different breed.. Sport mode and performance pages are great. Saving for a supercharger myself. Sport mode puts the car in awd. Being able to force awd is nice. I use it when pulling out into traffic. The awd will kick in automatically from certain weather conditions. I dont like the 40 temp one. It could be a perfect sunning day, but under 40 and it forces awd. Losing gas milage when awd is not needed.

I just bought a 2017 GT (V6 AWD) - I bought it online via Carvana without test driving. This car is badass. I've had super fast BMWs, Corvettes, GTIs, and a 69 Firebird. I can tell you that this car is plenty fast. This car cruises like a BMW and when you punch it or go fast on tight curves it drives more like a compact sports car. I'm literally in love with this car and soooo glad I got the V6. I'm doing 80mph @ 24mpg, 100mph @ 20mpg. I live in western Michigan and last week drove in a snowstorm with snow on highway 31 @ 80mph passing trucks and SUVs with no slippage or issues. This car is great and totally worth buying. I'll argue this car against a V8 any day.

💪🏽Test drove the SXT with the Black Top trim package and the Smoke Show exterior color with dual black racing stripe. Looks fantastic. What I remember the most is how quick this V6 is. In Sport Mode it went from 60mph to 90mph in a few seconds, very impressed indeed. 🇺🇲Stay well. Go in peace.

Nice post. Not everyone is in the market for the V8 Challengers. For Dodge, the SXT is the volume leader for the model. Hence, it helps pay the bills for marketing the Challenger.

It was driving an SXT Charger for 4 weeks as a rental that made me decide that the Charger is what I wanted as my forever car, starting with the R/T and now the 392 Scat Pack Stars and Stripes that is my baby, so the SXT should get mad love. On a side note, we should start a new drinking game for each time Racer X says "end of the day" :) (Counted 13 in this video)

I had a 5.7 Hemi and had a lot of fun driving to South Dakota on the winding Black Hills. I recently bought a 2016 Pitch Black 3.6, loaded, Blk on Blk in Chicago from a woman in a Wheelchair. You took great care of it, but cld no longer drive it! 26,000 miles. Wow! It's a looker and I love Mopar!

😂 Man I just got my V6 SXT Plus in White Knuckle Clearcoat with the Black racing strips and Blacktop package! Leather seats bigger rims, and UConnect screen. I can’t believe all the hate these V6’s get.. I’ve only had it for 4 days and I’m in love!!! When I pay off my V6 a bit and still have the itch for a V8 maybe I’ll get one but for now I’m completely happy with my choice! Oh and not to mention.. I have a CDL A to protect.. a V8 would get me in so much trouble! 😂😆

I'm actually flying into DFW tomorrow morning to buy a 2012 Challenger 3.6L V6. Its why I'm here watching all the videos on it. Im stoked to get it. Its a V6 but who cares. For a V6 it has plenty of power for my needs and this car is just sexy as hell.

Well folks, I ended up NOT getting the Challenger V6. The guy that has it way over exaggerated the condition. Yeah its a beautiful car but the important things are shit. The tie-rods were shot, the transmission slips, driver seat was really loose and the steering wheel column wiggles. Its garbage. But, i didn't go to Texas with only one vehicle in mind. I ended up buying a 2014 Dodge Charger 5.7L HEMI Police Persuit and I dont know why this was my second choice. I guess the gas mileage issue with a HEMI vs V6 but I was getting 27mpg on the highway back home. In a HEMI!?! The things a beast and handles better than anything I've ever driven. It has a bit over 87,000 miles on it and is clean inside and out. No wear signs anywhere. I picked it up from the Texas Dept of Public Safety for just $4,500. I got all the service paperwork on it and it has literally new rotors, brakes, shocks and tires. All replaced this past November because the DPS officer reported a "squeek" . I couldn't be any happier with this car. Im absolutely in love with Mopar. Chevy Who? Ford what?

I had a dodge challenger V6 for 7 years before traded up to the Scat Pack. The V6 is really a fun car that drives great and is the best daily car I've owned. Coincidentally, I got my Scat at that dealership...😐

I traded my SXT to the SP as well...The SXT served me well (mainly used it to commute to work). Like Racer X mentioned though, the SP does feel more "stiff" so to speak, but I love the rumble of its V8.

It's crazy to me that there are people out there who see a 303hp AWD sub-6 second 0-60 car that looks like this and turn their nose up at it because it's missing two cylinders. I've owned two 5.7s, I've owned a 3.6, and I've driven two 6.4s. They were all awesome. The only two types of people who hate the Pentastar are out-of-touch children that are convinced they'll be able to afford a Hellcat at 22 years old, or fake car guys who want to simply exclude V6 drivers to inflate their own egos. Love my current 5.7, but would also drive one of these again in a heartbeat.

2018 sxt is my daily driver. I've had two problems with it. The first was just water getting into the center of the light on the trunk lid. The second was more of an issue. The transmission had a hard shift between 2 and 3 and would throw a cel and lock in gear until taken to a shop. Dodge did change the trans valve and the trunk. Other then that love the car.

It’s a great cruising car. I have a 2019 Octane Red SXT. Love it. I added new wheels and stripes on her. People come up to me all the time and say what a beautiful car. Make it your own and drive. I’m adding leather this year. My final upgrade
