It actually slowed down very fast (especially for a cargo plane!). Very smooth landing, and he actually hand flew into the final approach. Very good, Captain! 👊😎

You can see the stress of this 2 men. How he reassures going back and forth with his hands to the controls. The moving inside the seats. Co-pilot holding his hand on dash board panel. I mean, this 2 extraordinary pilots. They have a challenge looking straight back at them. Aproaching at a high speed. There was a cliff right before the run way starts. Damm it's all I can say. That's a damm hard airport to land something that big like a 747.

This is a honor to watch, honestly. The only 747 that arrives to Quito is a cargo used mostly to export flowers, and I get to see the pilots behind that!? Simply amazing! Also there's some history to this video. If this was really recorded/uploaded on Nov 2019, it means this was one of the first flight they did after a series of riots halted the entire nation and marked a before and after in Ecuador. This is one of the first flights on our new 21st century period.

My friends, that was a NICE landing. gentlemen, the entire crew there, working together, made for a nice flight. i simmed this landing. with this plane lol. at this airport. but added complete engine failure to the mix. so i had to go ap off. wasnt pretty but it survived. i am envious of your occupation, but being as im an amputee ( mrsa) as well as a diabetic, the only way i can get some stick time is with another pilot. in A CESSNA. either that way or using an ultralight. i can fly. bt not ever in this . sooooooooo i enjoy watching these flights uploaded. and i duplicate them on fsx. i rigged my thrustmaster pedals with a loop since ive but one foot. but again tyvm for taking me along.

Outstanding performance and footage! Something very notable about this approach and landing is how much more was at stake when landing a seemingly easy to fly behemoth! Consider an approach speed of 150-160ish knots (in benign conditions), take into consideration the high pressure and density altitude which can yield a small performance margin and a high ground speed of 180-190 Mph (200 + kph) as they cross the runway's threshold. Imagine losing an outboard engine during take-off with the buildings just off the departure end of the runway (let alone surrounding terrain). This is what is being grossly discounted when bean counters consider more automation and less human talent in the flight-deck. Good work by the captain and crew.

Thanks for posting and sharing. The "old" Quito airport was very challenging and one of the highest elevations This new Quito airport is not as big a challenge but still a challenge and has a runway that is much, much safer. The old airport (2,813 m/9,228 ft elevation) (3,120 m 10,236 ft runway length) and the new airport (2,400 m 7,874 ft elevation) Much , Much lower (4,100 m 13,451 ft runway length) much more room to land and the mountains are a little father away but still a danger if you are off course. Love the video of the new airport. great views.

It appears this is a video from the times that inner Quito City airport was operative for international flights.
@spliceoncharlie5 жыл бұрын
@@herbertcourtesie2459 Not sure about the date of this video. February 2013 was the last flight into the old airport. But this is not the old airport in Quito. This is the new Quito Airport, NOT the old airport. The old airport was surrounded by the city. In the video you see lots of green and countryside(12:45 to 13:00). Look at the satellite views and it matches perfectly. There is a big ravine at the approach end of the runway. There were no ravines anywhere near the old airport just lots of city and buildings. Notice no buildings here only nice green countryside, which means this is the "new" airport. Amazing views. One of the best looking airports in the world.

Also someone needs to remind Moet 111 that the A380 is DONE!! 747's are STILL being built as freighters bc Americand designed it for dual purpose use:cargo or passenger!! Airbus was only concerned with beating Boeing as far as having the biggest plane. Typical...always trying to "one up" Americans. 747 was built in 1969 and still flying today. .

Incredible view from the controls. Thank you. When I was a 5 year old (I’m 52) I flew with my parents to Borneo to visit grandpa who was consulting for logging operators for Weyerhaeuser. We connected through Singapore. I actually sat on the pilots lap in the cockpit on approach (not landing). I don’t remember it but my Dad said the pilot told me not to touch the windows because they are hot. I touched the window of course. Cool story back in the day. Don’t remember it. 9-11 changed everything.
