tip for long distance riding for two stroke engine, do not red line it for long time and set the carburator for the spec, your piston have a hole in it, it's mean it doesn't get enough fuel and you need to put larger main jet in the carb and do a test run then read the sparkplug you want your sparkplug have brown to black colour and wet

In Japan, pump gas is 100 sometimes 102 octane rating and that bike was built to run on that. You burnt the piston because you put U.S gas in it without a retune.

So the YSR 50cc was the first one they made then the YSR80. We use to put IT 175cc motors in the YSR50s man did they go crazy fast like hwy speeds amd then we use to race them at a track in Whitby Ontario Canada i believe it was the biggest outdoor go kart track in north America. FAMILY KARTWAYS GO KARTS WHITBY (1984) man what a time to be in. Lol keep up the great videos.

We used to race these Yamaha’s in Denmark. I believe it makes around 6-8 hp stock. Topspeed around 70-80 km/h. Costing price around $12-1500.

That old YSR 80 engine's countershaft was probably spinning faster than the countershaft of the YZ80. I'd like to see you run it with a larger rear sprocket. What year YZ80 engine was it?

The problem was jetting and exhaust. First you schould alwys chek the sparkplug on these 2 Strokes and if the elcetrode is white it is running lean and will blow up or if its brown that means its perfect und if its black its to rich and wont have power. The other thing is that you put the stock exhaust on a yz 80 motor. A 2 Stroke exhaust is mached to the porting of the cylinder and therfore will only run optimal with the stock exhaust of the motor it came from.

I have 2 YSR bikes. One if them has a derbi GPR 75 motor. Liquid cooled and very fast. I think a better choice than the blaster or YZ 80 motor. Street legal too.. thanks for sharing the video. Very cool channel!

Bro, you need to run the water cooled YZ80 engine. Mine was fully track built and would cruz with FZR 600’s back in the day. Gobbled up corners like a fat kid eating cake on Dunlop slicks. Kept my 2 inside the storage room in my house because of sticky fingers in Hawaii. Also note, the oil injection system sucked, completely remove it and use Motul @ pre-mix 32:1.

Finding parts for a real ysr80 motor are very difficult because the ysr80 was only sold in canada and japan, they ysr80 engine is different from the ysr50 engine and the 1970s aircooled yz80 motor bolts right in with zero modifications needed. The electronic ignition from the ysr will bolt right on to the yz engine as well.

It's a YSR50. Most have put other motors in them. I'd put an early air cooled 250r motor. Not sure if you could squeeze anything larger in that small space without some frame fabrication. It would surely rip ass.
