@@lilywilson6230 technoblade is not okay with being shipped with other creators, however he is okay with being put in fanwork in general. he wasn't shipped in with anyone in the comic so I don't see an issue with it personally? as for the other people shipped in this comic - quackity, karl and sapnap - they do not mind either. in fact, their characters are fiancés in the dream smp storyline! of course, not all content creators are okay with it though. for example, in the earlier days of the fandom, Niki Nihachu and Wilbur Soot used to be shipped together, because they won a dating show together. however, they expressed their discomfort with it and by now the issue largely subsided. it is generally very frowned upon in the fandom to ship content creators who haven't explicitly stated that they're okay with it, and people who do such things are often outcasted, thus forming their own niches thatnormal fans do unfortunately stumble upon sometimes. however, the majority is very adamant on not breaking boundaries! as an example, Ranboo, a popular creator in the fandom, dubiously stated once to not assume their sexuality. as a result, when they wanted to come out as a part of the lgbtq they started dropping hints to his audience - some of them being pretty clear lol - but no one said anything in fear to not break his boundaries, until he actually explicitly came out lmao again, long response, sorry for that

the main problems with Boyfriends' story are thus: 1. PACING The author has no sense of pacing or how fast a story should go, for example, the first 10 episodes are essentially filler, and then all of a sudden, in episode 12, 🤓, for no reason, just says to goth "let's get into a poly relationship with jock and prep" and it is completely forced and out of nowhere, and then it still isn't developed for many more episodes, which would be fine if the story didn't have problem no.2 2. SIDE PLOTS Every good story has at least a side thread or two, something to develop while we wait for the main story to progress. In my opinion, a story MUST have a side plot or two, otherwise you get sick of the main plot very fast. And this is a problem that Boyfriends has, due to there not being anything else to care about besides the relationship between the 4 main characters, the story gets stale really quick. Those, in my opinion are the two biggest flaws of Boyfriends, now let me point to a Webtoon that is leagues better, Mage & Demon Queen. This story (whether you like it or not) is much better written, because the entire first SEASON is spent on the buildup of the relationship of the titular characters, going from 1 hates the other, to a mutual acceptance. Another reason why this story is much better, is that there is something else to care about, there are many side threads, and sometimes the main plot takes a backseat to these side threads. And something that I commend the author on is that I never yelled at my phone to just hurry up and advance the story, in fact I was entertained by these subplots because they still managed to advance the main story. Sorry for ranting, I write a lot of stories, and I wanted to weigh in as someone with a little bit of writing experience.

You know, I personally don't see much of a problem with people writing stories or webcomics about dsmp characters, as long as its clear that its the fictional characters being portrayed and not the actual people behind those characters. Because in the Minecraft server, they're all playing characters. And while those characters might share certain attributes to themselves, they're all made up fictional characters that they're writing and playing. It's shit like...Philza is an immortal bird man and Wilbur soot is a mentally ill man who doesn't bathe, and then there's someone else who's like an anthropomorphic sheep pirate. Its all just fiction. I don't really see anything weird about writing your own stories with those characters, but this particular thing is...not really that. Because it seems more like its trying to portray the actual real life people.

I used to be a Dream SMP fan, but I would not consider myself a stan in the slightest for I was only there for a storyline to obsess over. Anyways, here is my best attempt at answering some questions; - Philza’s character is suppose to be really old, at least compared to other characters - Dream’s brother is Foolish and I think his mother is Captain Puffy but I’m not sure - Karl is a time traveler in lore so that rewriting history so he was never in the SMP is accurate - A big thing about the SMP is that the characters are detached from the people, like the character might be a mass murderer but the actual person is nice. This is the excuse a lot of people use to ship them but I still find it wrong unless the pairings are cannon or consent is given
