"Fame is a fickle thing Harry." Right before Harry is outed as a parseltongue and bullied throughout throughout the school only to be lauded after he saves Ginny, then third year when he faints at dementors and gets bullied again but wins Quidditch and is a big deal again. Then the rollarcoaster of public opinion that haunts Harry through 4th/5th/6th year. IDK Lockhart had a very good point there.

Before the 18th Century when all the new, more complicated plumbing was installed at Hogwarts, the entrance to the Chamber was just a concealed trapdoor and a series of tunnels. When the plumbing was installed, Corvinus Gaunt, who was a student at the time realized that the secrecy and access of it would be at risk, because the new girl’s bathroom was where the trapdoor lay. Corvinus Gaunt, A direct descendant of Slytherin, took it on himself to protect the Chamber’s entrance and secrecy.

Yes. Plus, I'd have to look it up in the book to be sure, but I don't think Vernon says "You're never going back to that school". I think he just locks harry in to his room to prevent him doing anything else, although, that in itself doesn't make sense, because if Harry was as dangerously magical as Vernon thinks he is, a locked door would hardly be an issue. LOL
@Bro-cx2jc
@Bro-cx2jc Жыл бұрын
@@PeterCamberwick In the book, Uncle Vernon specifically locks Harry in the room because he finds out Harry isn't allowed to use magic outside school. He even sneers at Harry to go ahead and try getting out of his locked room using magic, and therefore get himself expelled from Hogwarts in the process. Being locked in his room isn't a life threatening situation he could be allowed to use magic to get out of.

I figured he was way younger in the books, since wizards basically do so much when young, and then just keep going into severely old age. They graduate school at 17, then go into the workforce. 16:21 The entrance to the Chamber of Secrets was originally a trap door. In the 18th century Hogwarts decided to introduce an elaborate plumbing system. Corvinus Gaunt protected the entrance by concealing it behind the plumbing fixtures. The heirs of Slytherin always knew the entrance to the Chamber but only Voldemort tried to use the Basilsk to reek havoc. Also, the Gaunt family carried the Slytherin bloodline and Merope Gaunt was Voldemort's mother and Marvolo Gaunt his maternal Grandfather.

5:54 harry's answer is actually pretty on point. Malfoy as a "former" Death Eater just called Voldemort a legend in front of the boy that lost his parents to said wizard. "Your scar is legend, as, of course, is the wizard who gave it to you" this is basically getting to a Jew who lost his parents in WW2 and got one leg cut and saying "very funny that you have one leg missing, Hitler was such a cool guy"
@thalietakesthetrolley2254
@thalietakesthetrolley2254 5 ай бұрын
Welllllllll, there kinda is a difference between calling someone "a legend" and calling someone "a cool awesome guy" Legend in this case means "famous, well-known" or maybe "an extraordinary wizard". Someone can be famous but be the most evil guy of all time, they're still famous. And being evil doesn't make you any less extraordinary.

In this movie, Harry ad Ron missed the train, so instead of sending Hedwig with a letter to the headmaster to apologize, they decided to steal and use Ron's family car that is actually the proof of illegal activity by his dad, fly it thorugh half the country breaking the most important laws of their system, and then crashing into a tree that's considered an endangered rarity. Yet they don't get any punishment. In the first movie, they have to spend an entire night in a creepy forest full of dangerous creatures because they entered a tower.

I can forgive Harry that kind of thnking because he's been a wizard for just a year but I was always confused why Ron thought his parents were trapped on the platform (in the next book he knows about the Knight bus so it makes no sense). This is the most underrated Harry Potter film, I love watching it. The acting got better, the visual effects got a lot better, Harry, Ron and Hermione's chemistry increased, and there were darker moments too than in the 1st. I also think this film still didn't do too bad with Ron, it's movie 3 where they really start dumbing down his character. I also like that most of this movie is just Harry and Ron, it makes it feel like a buddy movie. BTW there is NOTHING wrong with or nonsensical about the fact that the chamber had to be opened thru Parseltongue, it's not "Oh ANYONE can open it whenever", they just have to know the language at hand. Hermione even says earlier that speaking Parseltongue is not a common gift in the Wizarding world.

Btw, the chamber entrance was *moved* when the wizards adopted muggle plumbing by one of the Gaunts. You know watching the movies again has really made me notice how messed up the timeline is. I mean compared to the books the movies happen in like, a week, and they just at some point say "look its Christmas", and "look its summer" with no real workings as to how time passes. Like in the first film if you believe that, Harry's birthday is September 1st, cause he goes on the train immediately after! Also at 9:47, it makes so much more sense in the books, cause they were at the deathday party, and the c school was at the feast, but if I remember correctly the movie puts *all* of this on the first night back?

The Chamber of Secrets was part of the castle because Slytherin made it so. After he left, its location was passed down from generations of his heirs who knew how to open it. Eventually, a bathroom was built there and the location of it was lost until somone rediscovered it and closed it up. It stayed closed until young Tom Riddle went in and found it again after searching for his mom's side of the family.

@@ebrandt9698 That's just one of the many many conspiracy theories about this series. If you remember in the beginning, Professor McGonagall had already established that the Dursleys were the worst people to leave Harry with. Also none of them ever wanted anything to do with Lily or the Potters. Also if the horcrux inside Harry was the reason they were so awful, wouldn't Harry have been corrupted by it as well? Why was he still a good person even though he had something so evil inside him, with his own relatives being so awful to him?

I can only imagine how that air-writing anagram scene would've gone if it was accurate to what Rowling initially intended. Harry: "I am Lord Voldemort..." Riddle: "Damn it, Harry! The t is silent!!!" Basilisk laughing in the background and Voldemort starts cursing at it in parcel tongue.)

In my language (Bulgarian) Voldermort never has the T. I was absolutley blown away when I started introducing myslef to the real Harry Potter world after reading the first few books. And the anagram in the second book was something around the lines 'I am also Lord Voldemor' but said in a really strange way. I thought it was very clever at the time how they managed to play with letters and words like that, until I learned that they ate a whole letter of one of the most important names...

He hardly knows ANY spells, how would he know HOW to petrify a student. Hermione has petrified more people.
