What would’ve worked better for The Chameleon’s backstory (maybe give her a real name) is that she wants revenge on the Emperor of China. Maybe it was her family who was in line to be the rulers of China but the current ruler’s family overthrew them, killing all but her. So as a child she was taught the dark arts and used that to shape shift into various royals in order to steal their wealth and status, slowly working her way up to replacing the Emperor, then resurrecting powerful villains because she became addicted to stealing their forms and powers. It’s not much but I tried.

The Chameleon corrupted the art of Kung Fu by joining it with sorcery to achieve power. The Kung Fu is a art to train the body, the mind and the spirit and must be achieved step by step to reached perfection and not by shortcuts.

I think the Chameleon's backstory was a lie made by her to validate her actions. By the way she talks about kung fu, it seems more that she was greedy to learn kung fu because of the power she could have as a master and not because she cares about the martial art itself. The masters that she asked to learn kung fu probably saw that her objective to learn was greed and power and not wanted to teach her, but the Chameleon lied by claiming they thought her as a week person to learn Kung Fu.
