These are one of the Rajasthani banjara tribes and are ancestors of the present day Gypsies/Roma/Romani/Bohemians. And so the roots of flamenco is in some of the folk dances of Rajasthan and Kathak. There are cultural collaboration held every year in India, especially in Rajasthan to see these similarities. Also, Latin music has its roots in North west India. Another migration happened when Prithviraj Chauhan lost the battle against Muhammad Ghori, which started the beginning of Islamic rule in India, and so there were rapes, persecution, destruction of temples and mass conversions happening. Thousands of warriors who had lost their pride, their women in order to save their honour, along with them artisans, dancers, painters, sculptors, blacksmiths, traders, etc fled India to escape the most barbaric ethnic cleansing seen in human history. Even after the onset of Islamic rule in India, thousand more were taken to middle East as entertainers. Thousands died on Hindu Kush mountains while crossing. Urmila is a beauty- one of the most sensuous n seductive actresses of all times. I had a female crush on her while dancing on her songs lol😜She is so naturally gorgeous and sexy without looking like trying to hard or over the top. Unfortunately she was at a time in Indian Cinema when some of the legendary actresses and some star kids were ruling bollywood by both their acting n style so often she is not much appreciated for her acting although I believe she was at par with her legendary contemporaries and mostly big banners avoided her due to the era of camps n groups.
