Champion 1500 generator won't start.

In this video I'm working on an almost new generator that won't start. Keep your fuel fresh and carb empty during storage to prevent this from happening to your equipment.

I pulled an older version of this out of a landfill 3 years ago. I just got round to looking at it this morning. Changed the plug, gas and oil and rewound the recoil starter spring and it's plugged in and powering the lights in my workshop as we speak. Amazing, and far easier to maintain than the last honda I worked on.

A basic machine that does what its supposed to do. Fancy Hondas seem to be having problems with control boards lately.

I couldn't believe it. I grabbed it cause I wanted to use the gas tank for an oil drip system for a wood stove, but when I finally got round to looking at it after it's been sitting in the bushes and covered with snow for 3 years, it looked pretty good, and it starts and runs.

I have the exact same generator I got over 4 minutes into your video and drain the float like you did and now it’s running with fresh gas after years of sitting. Thanks 😊

It's an OK unit. Not a commercial grade one for sure. But it should work just fine for it's intended intermittent homeowner purpose.

Your recommendations worked perfectly! I drained the old fuel in the line and cleaned the carb and it fired right up after sitting for 5 years in storage. I have the 1800 watts version that's almost identical to yours. Thank you so much.

Been there, done that. carb needs a good cleaning, then will start right up.

I run 90 Octane non-ethanol in everything. It stores great too.

Non ethanol is the best. I just found out that the 2 stations I used to get non-ethanol from no longer have it.

Great video - just a few questions: I removed the carb bowl and just wiped it out (didn't have carb cleaner), reassembled the carb, but fuel is still not flowing... The float appears to be moving freely when I have the bowl removed. I know the fuel switch needs to be turned to the "On" position, but how should the choke switch be set for diagnosing fuel issues - Run or Choke? Also, does the carb bowl need to cleaned with carb cleaner - I mean is wiping it out not enough? Thanks!

Lack of fuel flow can also be a bad fuel petcock, or clogged screen. A little more inspection is needed on that...

if you use 91 cotaine no ethonal is it ok to leave fuel in the tank when not in use as long as you run the fuel out of the carb on last use?

I have a 3500 Honda and a 3500 champion ,like it better than the Honda ,would like little one like this if I get a deal.

It certainly is a decent little unit for the price. My own personal genny is a old school 6500w Coleman that can run my 220v mig welder. Thanks for subscribing!

Does the pilot jet have a hole through the center on this generator?

I believe it does. It will be a Honda clone, so there is a very tiny passage through the center of the pilot jet
