I actually kind of grew to like Revali because of this memory. It finally made it clear why Revali was so pompous and arrogant. He felt he HAD to exude some kind of arrogance. Everyone else's power was a birth right. Link, Zelda, Urbosa, Mipha and Daruk were all destined to get their powers and were born with them. Sure, all the Champions had to refine their powers and it's not like the others didn't work hard at all. But Revali had to work for EVERY LITTLE SCRAP. So not only did he have to make sure his technique was absolutely spot on and good enough to compare to the others, he had to make himself seem worthy when he was the only one without the god given right to be in this special category of Champions. Therefore he acted all mighty, in a typical "act tougher than you really are" kind of way. It's sad, really. I wish we had gotten more backstory from him. It wouldn't have surprised me to learnt that his family was always goal oriented and instilled a "goals first" mentality in Revali. Therefore it would make sense that Revali measured himself not in terms of his effort or his character but by his skill, which is a terrible way to approach life.
