My grandad drove chandler when he got to Memphis right after he signed. My grandparents are 1 of the 2 limo businesses Memphis uses for players and staff. My last name is parsons, and my grandad jokingly told chandler about our same name, Chandler told my grandad to tell me that if I wanted to get a girl at school, tell them chandler is my older brother. So naturally, 17 year old me jumped on the opportunity. A girl asked for proof, and I DMed chandler and explained what was up. Chandler text me for about 20 mins straight to create a fake conversation between he and I where he was like “hey bro, come visit after practice and when you out of school.” “You like guacamole right? We getting some at the house.” And it was sufficient proof for the girl lol. Even though it didn’t work out in Memphis, I’ll always like chandler for that and how nice he was to my grandad. Great guy.

Parsons seems like a very down to earth and likable guy. I feel a little bad now, as I most likely joined the chorus echoing the sentiment that he was overpaid and under performing. First, I loved his comment about booing the GM. I mean, if course he’s going to accept a big deal, that can’t be held against him. Second, yeeeeeeesus, 5 knee surgeries including a micro fracture? No one can maintain their explosiveness or lateral quickness with that much damage. I would say I feel for the guy, but he came out at 31 with 100+ milly, financial advice from Cuban and Abercrombie good looks- things worked out for homeboy just fine. Dope interview as always. The Kobe story to wrap it up was stone cold bad ass. Salute!
