To each their own, but no way this was better than the original. Neeti Mohan did a fab job but Anupama's effortless singing was several notches superior than Neeti Mohan's forced Shakira-esque singing. Orchestration and sound of this version pales in comparison to the grandeur of the original composition. I grew up listening to 90s ARR songs, so hard to convince me that anything can beat his 90s studio recorded versions.

I was a freshman at the Univ staying at the hostel when this movie/album was released. I remember there was absolute silence in the mess hall as we all tried to digest this amazing music that was so different from the usual Illyaraja tunes that were beamed in the hall. I just discovered Neeti Mohan and I am very thankful for that! She's great BUT I feel like her voice doesn't suit this song at all. Her vocals are too tender, softening the higher belts of the song and she dodged that G5 at the end with that "falsetto"😓....however she's got a great voice. Hats off to that!
