hi Ray, the process is still not over in my opinion. There are 4 outcomes (1 when the CR is out of Scope, and REst are Hold, Accept and Reject) and I think affter a decision, the formal communication needs to be sent to the StakeHolder about the status of the CR. The StakeHolder might get furious about the CR not being accepted but then as you said CCB/Sponsor is the final approval so redirect the StakeHolder to the Process that CCB Decision is final. Appreciate your effort in creating this one..

Yes, true...you are correct! Timely communication to stakeholders is also important after a decision on a CR.

Thank you for the explanation! If the customer's change request is out of scope, does the change request still go through the Change Control Board? How does the change request work if there is no impact to schedule, cost, and scope, or is it inevitable it would impact one of these constraints? If the change request is taken to the sponsor/customers to be aligned, if they are not okay with the impact, would the request still go through the CCB?
@PMPwithRay4 жыл бұрын
1. If change request is out of scope, it does not go to CCB. Check the Yes/No decision point in the flowchart explained in the video once again... 2. If a change request does not include schedule, cost or scope, then you need to check impact on resources, risk, communications, stakeholders, quality etc. 3. Customers/sponsors often are part of CCB only...

Hey Ray, Great video. I was doing a mock test recently and was a bit confused when I got one of these questions wrong using your structure. Can you give me some feedback on how you would've answered this question: You are managing a residential building construction project. Your client has just requested a change in the lighting system which may increase project risk and costs. What should be your first action? A. Update the project risk register B. Analyze the impacts of the change C. Raise the issue to the project sponsor D. Issue a Change Request
@PMPwithRay4 жыл бұрын
Hello, since the change is already requested, the correct option should be 'B'. If you have marked 'D'...it's wrong because 'issuing a change request' means the change is approved and ready for execution...which is not the case here...!
@bursamboy264 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray - Can you explain why updating the project risk register is wrong? Shouldn’t it be your first step to log every risk upon identifying it? And if following your chart, my answer would be D. Issue a change request. How did you know that the client filed a formal change request or just plainly requesting a change(your first step) I’m probably confused with the language.

Ray, Thanks for the wonderful video.Do you mind answering the below two questions to get more clarity on the change management? 1. Does ICC thread still hold for Agile projects specially when we know that changes to the Project scope is expected? 2. What if the team is not happy with the approval of the CCB on some changes? Do they just still need to implement it or is there a better way to handle the situation? Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks! Happy New Year!!
@PMPwithRay3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anita, 1. ICC thread holds true irrespective of the project methodology. The only difference is in Agile/Iterative projects, you need not to submit Change Requests every time to CCB since by nature agile projects dosen't have a fixed plan beyond a short horizon... 2. Once a change is passed by CCB, you need to implement it regardless the team is happy or not. It is your job as a PM to ease any differences of opinion within your team members BEFORE the request goes to CCB... Hope this helps! Ray

hello Ray, thanks a lot for making it so simple to understand. A quick question, is it the CCB or the sponser who is the final approver? I may be wrong but what I have seen in many of the reference documents is that the CCB is the final approver.
@PMPwithRay Жыл бұрын
Hi Sameer, the sponsor is a member of the CCB. Hence when a change request is approved, it has the alignment of the sponsor. However, it's the CCB who approved the change request and NOT the sponsor only, to avoid conflict of interest.

Very good. I hope one more step may be needed doing BASELINE after approval and before execution. Some questions on this steps
@PMPwithRay4 жыл бұрын
Hi Srinivas, baseline revision is done AFTER the change is completed. Becuase there can be cases where additional scope changes may come while executing a change.

Hi Sanjay. Thank you for your comment. I am happy to be part of your PMP journey! Can you elaborate your question a bit more pls? I am not quite able to understand it....bhalo thakben...:)

@@PMPwithRay brother , I guess I am still struggling a bit to identify/capture the events lets say to update the assumption log. The same is applicable for other logs like Issue Log, Risk Log, ChangeLog, etc etc. So just wondering if you have something, in a nutshell, to kill these logs before they kill me...... :(

Nice and well learnt but one more step possible, may be i am wrong Change log update then Communication(Confirguation management) after that Manage the revised project.
@PMPwithRay3 жыл бұрын
Not entirely true....depends on the context of the question. Also, communication management & configuration management are not the same thing!

In second question when it talks about "Change does not affect the schedule and east to complete" shouldn't we assume that impact analysis has already been completed and next step is ICC loop and answer is contact the sponsor? Option B?
@PMPwithRay4 жыл бұрын
What about impact on cost, resources, quality, communication etc? You don't evaluate a change only on the basis of ease of execution and schedule...

Good day, the illustration are so in depth, unlike PMP Book it is sometimes confusing when there are no process flow shown. Do you have any other references for PMP Document and Project Documents like the one that you have shown in change control process. Do appreciate your blogs.

Really well put thank you! What if the question starts with the change coming from the CCB and some of the team members do not agree with this change. What is the next step for the project manager?
@PMPwithRay3 жыл бұрын
Hello. If it comes from CCB, then it has already gone through the steps of analyzing & evaluating the impact etc. etc...hence the next step should be to start the process of implementation...dosen't matter if all of the teams members like the change or not...

Hi Ray, i am very much impressed and getting more clarity through your videos. they are really good. Thank you so very much. I have a query here , When sponsor is the ultimate decision maker , then why to go to CCB after sponsor approval . Even after CCB approval, again sponsor is the ultimate decision maker. This step may demoralize CCB legitimacy. How to understand this scenario..
@PMPwithRay2 жыл бұрын
Good point. Generally in most orgs. the sponsor is part of the CCB...hence that conflict is not there. In orgs. where that's not the case, it OK for the sponsor to take the call since he is the main budget owner...not the CCB. And the CCB understands that.

Another one During the project execution, stakeholder requests a change to ensure final product will satisfy their requirements. What should project manager do next? A) Approve the request only if it does not have impact on budget or schedule B) Submit a change request, as per the project change control process C) Reject the request D) Ask the team to determine the impact of the request on budget and schedule I assume B is only correct because option D does not ask team to evaluate impost on the triangle and etc. Had the option D included analyse the impact then D should be correct, right?
@PMPwithRay3 жыл бұрын
Answer is D. Watch this video to know why: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2GzdmWgYtNqg6s
