I'm 66 with arthritis and I hate this Kobalt! Just before breaking it over a tree to release frustration I found your video! I had to have help taking the cover off, ridiculously hard but am using it again.

Found this when looking for help re-stringing my Greenworks. Everywhere else said cut the string in half but this makes so much more sense and works well.

Very helpful. The trick no other video talks about is, just as you pointed out, taking the length of string in the middle and winding both "halves" around the upper and lower sections of the spool in the same direction, the direction of the arrows. Thanks again.

Thank you! I'm a 61-year-old woman with hand arthritis and had a thumb joint replacement last summer -- and this is the weed whacker the Lowes salesguy decided I needed. I've been fighting it since I bought it. Glad to see a guy struggling with that cover. The manual is worthless.

Nice video that really goes a long way in showing the process but the fact that you could not show every step potentially limited viewer understanding. Explaining only goes so far. A complete video presentation of every step in the process is worth a thousand words.

I own this trimmer aswell, akd admitedly it is a budget trimmer. My previous gasoline trimmer was a craftsman 4 stroke and it had slots for short pre-trimmed lengths. It was easier but I also had to change it more often. This is not the best weedeater but it does the job, doesn't require fuel, and is super lightweight.

Great instructions. Easy to follow. Use some WD40 to help get that first off. I would also use some compressed air to blow out any debris . It will work better.

Great information. Thanks. I tried with those same giant channel locks, but found something a bit better: Quick-Grip clamp. The rubber end fits perfectly over the Kolbalt release lever.

Sometimes I swear people find the dumbest way to do things. Thank you for the video. I bought mine used and there was no way I was going to figure this out on my own and judging from the comments, I wasn't going to with the manual either.

Great! I'm glad. Please share the video so it can help others. I suppose the only possible down side. Now you're string trimmer works right. Now you gotta use it! I don't know if you have any issues with this, but weed trimming makes my lower back ache!

I just purchased my trimmer and only used it once or twice. I think I advanced the string too often and wound up with backlash. So, I thank you for your help and I'll be happy to share. You're correct - I have to do the front yard now. But at least I can!

The most critical part of the demo is off screen, so I cannot understand how he created a loop and what he did right after that.
@MicroFarmStarter5 жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. you just fold the line in half to get loop. That way you have same length of string on both sides. then you just slide it into the groove. Hope that helps!

Still wont feed right
@MicroFarmStarter5 жыл бұрын
I have always had trouble getting weed trimmers to feed right. Sometimes they will work smooth and perfect, and other times they seem to fowl up no matter what you do. The method in this video seems to work good for my weed trimmer. At least for most of the time. Remember when I pulled off the cap thinking that the string was gone. I found out that there was still plenty of string left. I am convinced that finding something that works more than half the time, is probably the best anyone can hope for.

I bought for my single daughter to use instead of a gas trimmer and love the battery but Lowes/Kobalt should fire the engineer who created this design. Why not just use the simple cord singles and just slide in the head when you need to replace. I live a thousand miles away and when I come into visit I have to fix this piece of garbage.
