The original title in Japanese is "華胥の夢", meaning "the dream of Huaxu"(kasho in Japanese pronunciation). The nation of Huaxu in Chinese legend/mythology is a ancient utopia. Legend has it that Huangdi once had a dream of traveling there and learned the knowledge of ruling a country. He kept the knowledge after awakening, then use them to govern the whole country. The story mention above can be found in Liezi, Huangdi chapter.

Yuuka in cannon is NOT a sadist or a homicidal maniac as people think her to be. Go and play Lotus Land story and actually READ. In cannon Yuuka is calm and reserved and actually one of the nicer youkai out there. Yell at me all you want but I'll refer you to Touhou 4, or Touhou 9 Phantasmagoira of Flower View. Reading the wiki may also help as it has the translated script.

As much as I love Yuuka and hate her sadistic portrayal, she wasn't exactly calm in lotus land story... then again if someone breaks into your house, wakes you up and starts beating the shit out of you with a stick and throwing balls at you you'd probably be angry at them too. In ms she was also edgy but most of her profiles describe her as having a peculiar sense of humour so I guess she as just trying to joke with "genocide is just another game"

She may be merciless when angry. She is a proud youkai and likes to show it, like by scaring/intimidating others. As seen in MS and PoFV, she probably enjoys taking battles very slowly to enjoy it more, while in LLS she was at the merciless side (for obvious reasons). While the Akyuu article is canon, it's kind of strange how parts of it contradicts each other.

The whole point of touhou is that everything you see is said by unreliable narrators, leaving everything up for the players to interpret. I personally imagine she's usually calm and polite, but is still a powerful yokai and someone proud to show off (aka, teasing/bullying) who may or may not lack the social skills/charisma of other yokai, which gives her an unnerving aura even when trying to act nice

True, angering Yuuka wouldn't be a good idea. About pc98 canon, it is really strange how it works. From some translated interviews or questions, ZUN has often stated that the pc98 canon should be ignored, but still some ingame dialogues makes it questionable, like how Alice is confused that Reimu doesn't remember her and the PoFV and PMiSS story implies that Reimu defeated Yuuka before. (Then the small reference from CoLA when Reimu says that the shrine was taken over by an evil spirit once.)

Afaik Zun's attitude to pc98 cannon is "Unless if conflicts with Windows era canonicity, then its true, its not important anyways" I do wish some more stuff return from PC98 (Shinki and Mima comes to mind)

mima should never have been removed fully to begin with like mima was either second or third most important character in the pc-98 continuity (competing for second most important with Marisa), appearing in the same amount of games as Marisa

​@@Shivvorz "Ignore PC98 parts" comes from 2003-ZUN, in his interviews after EoSD release. The phrase "PC98 is canon as long as it doesn't contradict Windows" is from 2013 interview. I believe ZUN's attitude has changed, and it can be assumed why. In 2003, if the PC98 storyline was to be continued, most of the Windows players wouldn't have been aware of the previous story and there was no way for them to find out. I don't think there was a Touhou Wiki in 2003, you know, nothing like what we have today. Also not nearly as much people had internet access. In 2013, these concerns were obviously obsolete, so ZUN's approach towards PC-98 became more inclusive.
