Great strategy Adam. The logs are very appealing to the weekend firewood cutter who does it because he enjoys it (come to think of it, that's why most of us do it also!). Not a huge savings for that person, but the exercise, outdoors time, and therapy are priceless. Hope to get some time to talk to you at Bunyan!

If you can get 125.00 per quarter cord, MORE POWER TO YOU! We can't get (or sell it) for that number here in the U.P. as there are too many low Ballers out there willing to give their processed firewood away. But I think the end cost SHOULD be right about at where you're at. Shoot, I just paid 140.00 per cord for two quad axle log trucks for 20 cords of logs. If I have to pay that much to buy the raw materials, I feel that I should absolutely be getting more than the 320.00 per cord that I'm charging to sell it. And I'm one of the highest priced people around. Some are selling a processed cord for 260.00-280.00. It doesn't even pay to get out of bed for those numbers.

Good video Adam, you know your area and the prices of your area. Seems like a good deal to me for the people who don’t have the equipment of getting that wood. The value I see in this is that the person who buys the trailer load can have you drop it in there yard and start cutting, splitting, and stacking right in their yard. Value in that as well. Keep us posted.

Fair price for the load of logs. I live in Ontario and I buy it already blocked the trailer is6x12x6 high for 300 and get alot of wood from it atlest 9 face cord just have to spilt and pile
@Catskillwood Жыл бұрын
A full cord around here is up to about $300 cut, split, not seasoned. This is the Catskills in upstate NY. Not too far. That is about what those logs will produce, so not economical to buy the logs at that price. Better to buy the green split wood. Things may be more there, though. A load of logs, the logging truck without a trailer, is about $800 delivered from nearby for comparison. A cord and a half against $1,000 for a tri axle might be a tipping point, though.

Nice changes adding options to attract new customers (and using your mom's signmaking skills). All your justification numbers make total sense to me (sad that inflation has become a top factor). My only reservation is exactly how much firewood can be processed from that trailer-load of logs. I'm thinking you would get closer to a cord than 1.5 cords. That would clearly impact your calculus. But yes, measuring it as you suggest would be wise. You always have the option of adjusting your price if you need to based on demand.
@jimhoge3252 Жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, pulpwood prices are currently very low compared to historical prices indicating supply is exceeding demand. This is a little different than your firewood price however. My reaction is 300 for the trailer is too high considering I would have to cut and split. It is also the undesirable logs that you don’t wanna split… price it to sell at 200 or 175! Love the idea good luck

Good day, I am in Canada just north of Toronto. We have been heat with wood for 20years and always by loads if logs and do it ourselves. Struggling with the cost now. It is almost as expensive to heat with wood as anything else. $900 for a tri axel of logs years ago now its $1600. Great idea and price per trailer load...I was wondering how you would get into that stockpile.......Just a thought....While at Bunyan, in addition to networking to selling your different offerings of firewood, perhaps you could talk to reasonably local guys (to you) who have splitters, trailers etc....If you're open to having others working on your property, you could make some sort of bartering arrangement....Ex: For every half or full cord of crooked wood splitter A does (for free), they have have to split a few baskets or equal amount for you. As I see it, if he's up to it, you could have neighbor Doug on the excavator moving/stacking logs for you and splitter A while you're chainsawing logs for your splitter. Afterwards, you would have already split and ready to season firewood (with no direct time investment) plus a huge stockpile of ready to be processed logs you can do as time permits. I hope this helps....Having a huge stockpile of ready to be processed logs near your splitter could be beneficial when it's sloppy in the log yard and you don't want to make it worse running the excavator around...This would erase sloppy day downtime.

Adam your very trusting leaving your out the front?
