A neat trick for threading new plugs in is to slip a piece of vacuum hose over the terminal end of the plug and then use the hose to rotate it and start threading it in. Also I would recommend before doing anything, blow compressed air around the plugs to blast any dirt or debris away that might fall into the hole when the plug comes out.

Awesome video, saved me a lot of time, Thank You!! I did a 2012 LS3, spark plugs and wires in 90 minutes, start to finish going slow per your recommendation on cross threading, I did draw some blood LOL but not too bad. Only 43k miles but a few months ago a wire fell off the coil and a friend suggested changing the wires. Thanks again for a great step by step video..

You should do the idler pulley, both tensioner pulleys, and both belts! I'm about to dive in next weekend to do the plugs and the belts and tensioners/pulley!

FYI, I pulled the OEM plugs out of a C6 I bought last summer that had 21K easy miles. One of the iridium tips was GONE! Another one fell off as I was checking the gap. I have heard from others that have encountered this also. Needless to say I will never use an AC Delco iridium plug again. Think about that super hard iridium bouncing around in the combustion chamber! I went with a double platinum plug. It has a bigger center electrode that should be much more resilient to mechanical failure. Again FYI.

Sounds like someone tried to gap those spark plugs. Iridium plugs should only be gapped at the factory. If the gap is wrong, don't use the plug.
@kerryblueher31473 жыл бұрын
@@dennisbarak5195 Not likely. I'm certain they were the OEM plugs and my engine was hand built by GM. My checking the gap was to note how much they had opened up in a mere 21k. I was committed to new plugs from the get go.

I was mostly worried about cylinder 7 and whether the brake booster would have to come off. Glad it isn't that involved.

Great video. Where both ratches torque ratchets. I didn't know such a thing was made, or was the spark plug socket have a torque setting? If so, what are they called? Thank you.

No, it is not a torque wrench. I just got snug when i tightened them. Thank you!!

Why don't you use anti seize on the plug threads ?........Also you should put an old towel or blanket on the fenders to prevent any damage to the fender.
@maintainersgarage3 ай бұрын
Did not feel the need on the anti seize
@turt1e2 ай бұрын
According to NGK at least, if you use anti seize then you alter the torque needed so you risk over torquing the plugs and damaging them.

This was also a question I was asking myself, but I was pretty sure I could reuse the old heat shields. For some reason, the boot on cylinder #1 kept coming off, so I'm considering changing all the plugs and wires. The car is nearing the 80k miles mark, so I guess it's already due
