Just a suggestion, I would bring in your old plugs where you get your car tuned and show them. It looks to be running a little rich. NIce job as usual Chris!

I'm going with some iridium / ACDelco 41-110 IRIDIUM Spark Plugs OE 12621258, the originals where platinum / ACDelco 41-962 Professional Platinum Spark Plug, which have much shorter lives, still have the originals in as I only have 27,000 mile on her and she running fine, if they were iridium, I wouldn't even be thinking of changing them yet. I like the accel wires but unless you get them from China they're 5x the cost of the metal boots which have held up fine for me so far (original Z06 exhaust). And even from china with a 2/3 week ship time, they are 3x the cost. That's a lot of cost to justify IMHO, I'm more of a bang for the buck minimalist. Thanks for the video, I was looking at that plug behind the master cylinder and wondering if there was any trick to it, but nope just standard issue tool set. Still it's gonna be a tight squeeze getting that one especially. Still enjoying the catch-can fiasco, lol, We are sooo.. human. The road to disaster can be paved with the best of intentions. I installed a catch-can on my CTS because it has the dreaded direct injection dirty intake valve syndrome. Then I found out there are 2 outlets, one on each valve covers and I only plumbed the PVC one, lol. Oh well back to the ol' drawing board.

Great video again Chris. I've never broken a spark plug, not once. Well, maybe a couple of dozen over the years. LOL. According to my diagnostics I am running lean in both banks where as your plugs look to be rich, carbon build up. Keep up the great work and videos.

Probably not bad idea to go down to TR6, I’ve had the best luck with adding timing with them, and you was right about the motor mounts with the fast, mine are OG and had plenty of room for the MAP.

Like Keith Paolella said. It's running rich. Should be a light brown color. Lean it out a little. More power, better mileage.

I found out a long time ago that it’s a helluva lot easier upon breaking the spark plug loose & re-installing it, to use a 6’’ section of 3/8’’ fuel line slipped over the end of the plug. That way, upon removing the plug it you don’t run the risk of the plug falling out of the socket and ending up someplace that’s a pain in the ass to get to it. And secondly, upon re-installing it, you really lessen the chances of cross threading it, and you can twist it right in with your fingers. Then get out the socket, etc, and tighten them down to spec.
@gilgonzalez59022 ай бұрын
This is why you use a magnetic spark plug socket. You’ll never have to worry about a spark plug falling in or out of the engine. $20 on Amazon and comes attached to the exact extension you need.

Hey, Chris are you going with any heat shield sleeves??? I just did mine but not sure if I really need a heat sleeve or not. One recommendation from my drag racing days. Once you pull off a old cable, cut it and save the boot that goes over the plug. Once you break the plug free slide that boot over the plug , it makes it much easier to screw the plug on or off by hand. It also gives you more room from hot exhaust , if you need to pull plugs while it's still hot. ( like at track) I also use a bit of neversieze on plug threads if they are going to stay in for a while. I also recommend a tab of dielectric grease on the plug to wire connections. Hope it helps !!

I'm sorry,bro,I haven't had the appetite for Corvette related items over the past few months,I've just had a very bumpy ride in my 07 C6 ZO6,I was driving it to get it serviced early September when the dreaded bonging sound,accompanied by the equally dreaded "reduced engine power" warning came up in the driver information display,it started but misfired badly then cut out and was acting like the battery was faulty.I rang my 'local' specialist up and he recovered it on his low loader,after fitting a new battery all seemed well until he tried it a few days later and the problem reappeared,the car ended up at the original importer specialist on the low loader where after many days they've now fitted a new E.C.M. after finding the old one corrupted.The only mods carried out are headers and 'sports' cats,it's very low milage and I look after it very well,needless to say I'm a bit jaded with Corvettes at the moment!✌😦

i don't understand how you're using the 135 degree spark plug boot end type.. i'm trying to order these but it only gives the option for straight ends for the C5, it says those that you installed are for later version corvette.. i'm trying to ask the company so I can get the correct cables.

My wires were so hard to get off I destroyed 4 of them. It's like they were welded on. Some dielectric grease on the rubber and on the threads some anti-seize made everything much easier.

After watching a few more of your videos after this one, i see there was a problem at the dyno and you thought maybe something with the spark plugs was the problem. Well, after trying to get the same cables you installed, I think you installed the wrong cables for that year C5. When I try to get the same cables you installed it says they don't fit my 2000 C5. They say the ones that fit have a straight boot end type. I don't know if they are the same, or if the 135 degree angle makes a difference in performance, but maybe that is why there was a problem with your car after installing these.
