As a US Army vet, this is pretty good. At least you guard your Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I don't think the French and British do which I find sad. The Canadians have been superb soldiers in two World Wars and have delivered a lot of hurt to their enemies!

It’s guarded 9am - 5pm……woohoo Canada, guess it’s not worth guarding 24/7.

I love how men of different branches of the Canadian Armed Forces serves as toumb guards. The two sentries that get relieved are (I believe) from the Navy, while the two others are from the Air Force. The Chief is from the Army. Cool cooperation between branches there

It isn't as though the Canadians don't know how to a decent honor guard. When they were guarding the queen they did a wonderful job.

I love that they carry the M16 with their changing of the guard. I love the bagpipes. It just seemed that they could choreograph it a little more, and add a little more grandeur to it. Canada are some fighting men, and their warriors deserve the men paying them respect to be worthy of conversation and praise. I think of James Doohan getting shot 6 times in WW2 and all the Canadians lost their lives at Juno beach, and this bothers me. I've seen better put together ceremonies at my 7 year old dance pageants.

It’s sloppy, we can do better. The damn training done for this job must be so much easier than the American old guard. But for a soldier, this is so damn good.

While I agree that this didn't look all that tight, I still feel that the american version at Arlington is waaaay to elaborate and ostentatious. Not exactly surprising, really.
@berryboi5447
@berryboi5447 3 жыл бұрын
@@DarthPhallix I respect the way you view it. Now that you mention it, it is a bit elaborate the way they do it but I still feel as though the guarding should be 24/7 and with highly disciplined soldiers, even though I am not even in the military. But why would that happen with Canada’s military if we are underfunded lol.

At least it looks like humans are guarding it, not robots like the American one. Tough, they could touch it up a bit to make it look more ceremonial.

Yea have to agree, pretty sloppy, too foreign....British or Scottish? Kind of goofy with the arms all over the place and the big leg stomp...actually funny. Nothing beats the Americans and Arlington National cemetery. I live in Ontario but rather drive to Washington to see that than Ottawa for this act. I don’t even think the tomb of the unknowns are guarded 24/7, vandalism all the time. No pride at all we really should emulate the way the US does this stuff British model is boring.

Gotta say.... It didn't look good. The two Air force guys are NOT used to drill and got out of pace on the way up so did the Navy guys. Also the, they should hold their rifles on the same side as the pipe is... That way, the arms would all go the same way... And PLEASE! No more quick march. This is SOLEMN... Slooowwwwww... AND show that Master-Corporal HOW TO SHOUT OUT COMMANDS!!!! That was weak!
@kennethye4374
@kennethye4374 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJimprez @TheJimprez While their drill could have been better, I don't think the changes you suggest wouldn't make sense. Shoulder arms is traditionally done in the right hand because that the hand you shoot with. They could slope arms, but the CAF drill manual does not allow for slope arms with the C7 rifle. (how would you do it, anyway?) As for your slow march suggestion, these are armed guards, not wreath layers, so a quick march makes sense despite the solemn location. Also, I'm sure that Mcpl knows how to yell, but he elected not to since he didn't need to for everyone to hear.

I actually think the British chaning of the old Guard is pretty intimidating to be honest.they are a lot heavier on the stomp.
