Today I show you guys how to do coil & spark plug change on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis that I just bought for $1100. This was a very simple process and unlike others say, you do not need to remove fuel rail. I have a 2003 police intercepter and I 'driven it with no issues from 2015 until now 2023 when to its credit broke down in the drive way , check engine light flashing , not good , so I looked at the engine and removed the cover and of course a rat tried to make a nest but no chewed wires , however all the coil packs were a little loose and one is VERY loose the nut was never seated all the way down so I ordered the right socket set to tighten every thing , hopefully the plug did'nt get popped out of the head , it was missfiring pretty bad so will have to fix , having said that changing out the plugs to me is a royal pain ! I'm 60 and dont have the patience to put up with this horible design , everything has to be torqued just right or else , I'm going to fix it or have it fixed and then trade it for any good car from the 60s or early 70s with points , condenser , and distributor , these new cars make me feel sick ...

I hear you on that. Sometimes new isn’t always better. I always loved the simplicity of the older vehicles you just kept up with your basic maintenance and you have a car that’ll run forever. Nowadays you have so many wiring and electrical gremlins to worry about on these newer vehicles honestly makes me hate working on cars haha. Thanks for watching!

Enjoy your older car. But I've found they're alittle pricey. Look for a 81 park avenue, but anything in good condition is atleast 10 thousand. But same time have mercury grand marquis 4.6, you take care of them they take care of you.

Just an FYI, these engines are prone to blowing out spark plugs due to them not having very many threads in the head. These plugs should be torqued 23-25 ft lbs.

Definitely not easy to do plugs. I broke my intake manifold, from heater core not fun at all. After market intake manifold sucks. Buy more expensive. Trust me

I tried changing out one ignition coil to replace the spark plug. As soon as I pulled the coil out, gas sprayed out. Wasn't mentioned that it would do this upon removal. Is this normal? Any suggestions?
