Changing Russia’s Calculus and Laying the Groundwork for Ukrainian Victory

As Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine approaches the two-year mark, it is imperative that transatlantic leaders keep their eyes on the war. After failing to divide the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the war’s early days, Russia’s plan is to outlast Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic community. To overcome this, Washington and its partners urgently need to supply Ukraine with provisions, assistance, and training to demonstrate a credible long-term commitment to a Ukrainian victory.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Estonia has published a strategy for how Ukraine could win the war by the end of 2026, Setting Transatlantic Defence up for Success: A Military Strategy for Ukraine’s Victory and Russia’s Defeat.
Hudson Institute, in partnership with the Estonian Embassy in Washington, will host a discussion on the report with Kusti Salm, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Estonia, and Peter Rough, director of Hudson Institute’s Center on Europe and Eurasia.

Fantastic that Estonia has taken the step forward to emphasise the need to help Ukraine win and this is right in Washington. I hope that the powers that be and Trump understand the need to help Ukraine win. The figures given are really astounding and should be an eye opener.

Everybody should see this, and Elon Musk should be at the front of the line. In our case, the victory of freedom and decency and human rights is simply a CHOISE. (For Ukraine it's a must.)

You need to take PPP into account as well. Zurich is the most expensive city in the world. Damascus is the cheapest city in the world. A nice hotel and restaurant in Damascus is gonna cost less than a crappy hotel and restaurant in Zurich. Next, war drives up prices of certain things. Countries that export these certain things benefit. E.g. Energy, or artillery shells (which has quadrupled in market price). Ukraine and Russia needs around 1.5 million shells per year...Russia is already producing 4 million per year, and buying millions more from North Korea for peanuts. The EU is only able to order 220 000 shells (if the price didn't quadruple it would have been 880 000 shells). West3rn stockpiles are depleted. Russia is able to build stockpiles, which is unleashed in intense situations like Bakhmut, and having more in stockpile than the opponent makes the difference.

This is all very interesting of course. There is one problem though. Minsk agreements 2014-2022. The Minsk agreements were a 14-point document whose purpose was to end the civil war between Ukraine and its rebel republics of the DPR-LPR. According to the agreements, after their implementation, the DPR-LPR remain part of Ukraine. The guarantors of the implementation of these agreements were Russia, Germany and France. However, later, Hollande (France) and Merkel (Germany) publicly stated that the Minsk agreements were a fiction and they never planned to force Ukraine to comply with them. Moreover, during this time it was planned to transport weapons to Ukraine and train its soldiers to conduct war according to NATO standards. And before their statement, on February 19, 2022, President Zelensky publicly refused to implement the Minsk agreements. Thus, Europe and Ukraine were preparing for war from the very beginning. While Russia tried with all its might to resolve the conflict diplomatically and peacefully. This slightly destroys the concept of the evil Putin wanting to take away the territory of Ukraine. Although... perhaps not a little. This completely ruins your whole concept.

Well, numbers for Vietname and Afghanistan were even more in favor of US and their coalition, but they have lost anyway. Numbers are not everything, spirit of the people matters. Western coalition is not willing to loose their soldiers; pure money cannot gain you victory; and russlion manpover is at least four times more than ukrainian, who really fight alone

Yes, Russia is bad. Savage imperialism in the 21st century is bad. Ukrainians deserve freedom just like any other humans on the planet. This is not hard to understand unless you are a bad seed.
