After receiving a quote for a VW service advisor of $300 to change the spark plugs and $600 to change the spark plug wires, I ran to KZbin to find someone who could show and explain exactly what alI I needed to do this repair myself because ain't no way in hell I would pay that much for this service. Thankfully I finally found your video.

I noticed as I'm doing mine that the reach of the spark plug replacements I got are less than the OEM. The Autolite XP are 0.75" and OEM is around .875". And I see in your video it's the same comparing new Bosch and OEM Bosch side by side. Makes me more confident that it's ok, I've just never seen a difference between reaches before on any engine I've done.

@MTParadise
@MTParadise 2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad I could help. You’ll want to check the gap. There is a little tool you can get at any auto part store and I think I might have a link in the description but it’s super easy to get the gap. You just stick the gap tool in the gap and you move it until it’s on the right number. I know there’s different size spark plugs but make sure you get ones that say they work with your car. Different brands will work as long as they are the right size

Check for corrosion on the spark plug cables and if they're new, make sure you correctly connected them from the spark plugs to the ignition coil terminals. There's an order and if it's messed up, it can cause jerking. Just fixed mine that way.

I wouldn’t post the video or links if the parts didn’t work. I make sure the parts I use are legit before posting but I’ll keep an eye out.

It’s the same for each one. Reaching down and pulling off the wire that leads to it then for the spark plug, I only edited out me turning the wrench around and around lol.

My wife’s 2015 jetta was misfiring, she barely made it to Canadian Tire automotive, western Canada, the codes came up spark plug and coil problem, they replaces the plugs, cables, coil, parts where $200 can $ and labor and taxes were $630 can $ , total $ 830.00, complete rip off this looks like it takes one hour to do. Should have had her tow it home, car only has 54,000 KMS on it.

@@MTParadise the key switch is giving some trouble I hear it’s a common problem, cost to fix will be around $1200.00 if done by deal, it still works ok with the newer key for now, other then that it a great car, she does not drive it much.

I wouldn't have went with that cheaper brand for $29 if you can spend $29 you can buy a name brand for 50 everybody on Amazon says that $29 one stops after 6 to 7 months

@@MTParadise yeah I mean it's just my own experience just my own experience I bought no-name Brands before and it's just such a gamble however most Volkswagen dealers will match prices if the part is the same or similar and Audi dealers where I live. Because I used to buy parts from ECS tuning and then I realize they're selling you Parts sometimes that are out-of-cycle like Volkswagen Audi Porsche don't even use the part anymore it's been revamped so many times but they sell it to you for almost the same price as a dealership so then I would go to the dealership and they would offer me the same price and they'd give me a the newest version of the part that's more reliable just like spark plug wires they one time sold spark plug wires that were out of rotation for more than 3 years yeah but there's so many online websites dealerships that sell their parts online now for very good prices to so ECS Tuning has to get more straight with their customers.

@@MTParadise yeah that's why most of the time I just buy it from Volkswagen dealerships online most of the time they will match ECS Tuning and it's just better because you know the part is the newest version of that part unless it's extremely cheap on ECS Tuning I might take a chance
