I love your videos as I am sure I am going to have to do some of this myself, but I do have a question and concern. As a schottischer Schwabe I don’t like spending money but so far I have replaced almost nothing on my 1992 300ce cabrio with 230k miles but surely the alternator, radiator, oil pump, thermostat, ac compressor, hydraulics usw. have to go soon, should I a) replace them prophylactische b) buy the parts now while they are still available and wait for them to break or c) keep the money in my pocket. I have no intention to ever sell the car.

Experts typically fix what needs fixing and then look to make sure to stay on top of regular maintenance items such a lubricants, coolant, belts, battery, etc. That is what I do, but everyone is different. I have seen all three of your options deployed by various people and to me that is a very personal choice that is totally up to you.

Is the battery ok? Was this a brand new alternator or refurbished one? What is the voltage before start and during engine idle?

Rebuilt alternators are nearly always junk unfortunately.

Yeah, and rebuilt calipers are pretty much a waste of time and money also
