Many thanks for this video! Great camera work combined with clear concise instructions. It gave me the confidence to replace the clutch on my 2003 Sabre. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Great vid, it was the one that got me done (2000 Shadow Sabre VT1100C2). My exhaust cover clamps were completely seized with rust and would have twisted into ribbons, so instead I loosened the 2 header bolts and the 4 support bolts and removed the entire pipe, super easy and avoided the whole sheet metal clamp catastrophe.

Nice job Bob. I changed my springs and used different bolts as well. Those OEM bolts tend to be a one time bolt. I think its BS if you didn't screw them up keep them. I placed my bike on the left side. Didn't have to drain my oil. I also reused my gasket. Which I wouldn't recommend. But mine came off in one piece. I just reused it. I got a spare. If guys are trying to save money, they can change the 1st and last friction ring. It will save tons of money. You can tell when they are going bad cause they get darker .Use a magnet to remove rings a tad bit faster then the hooks. Still used the hooks for the plates. Great video Bob. Thanks. Keep them coming! Excellent video.

Frogman172 Wow these are some great tips that you mention here. You could also lightly sand the clutch plates to give them a little more life. I only wanted to do this every great while so I wanted to go with new everything. The way I figure it is the more time I spend working on my bike the less time I send riding :-) That is great to hear that your gasket came off and you were able to reuse it along with the oil. You may want to consider changing your oil sometime soon just in case any debris got into the oil while the cover was off. Great tips, Thanks

First and last friction ring are black according to the manual and marked with A, others are marked with B and they are brown.

Other than the necessity to remove an exhaust pipe (which would still be hot if the bike was run to thin the oil before this procedure), this looks so much easier than replacing the clutch on a Harley Davidson Sportster! Thank you for this video!

I’m subscribing mostly based on the effort you put into getting the right camera angle at 8:24. You channel seems to have a lot of content I’m looking for. More motorcycle videos please. There more exciting than fixing a house or even a nice car.

I just purchased a 2006 shadow Sabre with 16k miles. The clutch doesn’t engage until the lever is almost fully out. Does this mean I need to replace the clutch?
@thomasdolan5738

No. You can adjust the engagement point with the screw up on the clutch lever.

Hi. I just replaced my clutch using the Ebc kit. I also replaced the springs. Though now I have no action in the clutch lever even though the cable is adjusted all the way out; whereas I did before. Could I have missed something? The shifter arm does come up when I pull the lever; though it does not disengage the clutch.

Not sure without seeing the whole bike and what else is going on. I would pull it back apart and check it while it is apart to shed some light on the issue. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

I've changed a few clutch packs on a few different bikes, this one seemed to go the smoothest until... now I can't find neutral no matter where I have the cable adjusted... no slack, some slack, enough slack, too much, etc. (Adjusting from perch and from engine side of cable). I am stumped and have to ride this thing to work daily.... Any help would be appreciated, thanks anyone in advance....
@funbro1

I've never hear of something like that before. I know you may not want to hear this but it may be a good idea to take it back apart and check everything out. It would be terrible for you to get stranded somewhere. Keep us updated if you find anything out. Thanks for watching.

Do you mean to tell me this on the Shadow is like rebuilding the transmission on a car? It can't be this easy. Is rebuilding the engine juts as easy? I heard you had to remove the whole engine and take apart the engine to work on the "transmission" on most motorcycles. I guess some you do and some you don't.
@TherealWinterpillow
@TherealWinterpillow 5 жыл бұрын
To work on the internals of the transmission it's recommended that you take the engine out. But to change the clutch pack it's about the same on most bikes.
