I was delighted to have the band play Major James Howe's piece "Guards Division March" at the Changing of the Guard. I haven't heard this music in a long time. This music was written in 1969. That year, the Household Brigade rose to the rank of Household Division. It is a very memorable history!

@@wasawat.cnetprahas It's a Spiffing march, it's great to hear it being played at a Guard Mount. Hope it becomes a regular, and it's not just this once.

A fine Scots Guard presentation with excellent sound, across a great selection of marches My old favourite, Stirling Castle and the Warrior were good to hear . The two trombone parts stood out so nicely at. 2:21

Great variety of splendid tunes on this occasion. We don't usually get so many. And every tune was stirring, and every tune was rendered note-perfect by these amazing bandsmen. What a treat,

10:02 is called “The Warrior” and was composed by former Scots Guards musician David Jackson. First time it has been played out since 1990!

Hi@vickyRoyalHistory , and great to hear from you! There are definitely 2 Bass Trombones here, and they sound very strong. In fact the whole trombone section in this band (in my opinion of course!) is superb. When they start out from the Arch at Victoria Barracks, the Bass Trombones are the one furthest away, wearing thick glasses, and the second-nearest to the camera. Or to put it another way, as they come towards us from the Arch, counting from our left it's the 2nd one and the 5th one. As they come back down the High Street, for example seen at 09:30, it's the nearest one (with the thick glasses) and the 4th one along. I thought that "The Warrior" was excellent. I was very fortunate to be in "the right place at the right time" to film them coming straight towards the camera playing this, and to make a split-second decision to start filming from there. Like most people, I'd never heard that march before. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJS2qnaffs98f6s Unfortunately, for me there's bad news concerning Windsor. I mentioned to you "health issues", and this was to do with my eyesight (which has always been a bit of a weakness for me). I've had to surrender my car driving licence and sell my car. This means that getting to Windsor will be much more difficult for me. Although I only live about 20 miles from Windsor, trying to get there by public transport looks to be very difficult and time-consuming. To add insult to injury, my sister (who lives overseas) made a brief visit to UK this week, and yesterday (5 December) kindly drove us to Windsor to see the Band of the Household Cavalry. When we got there, it just wouldn't stop raining, and it ended up being a "Wet Mount", ie without the band. The weather here is extremely frustrating when trying to plan for any sort of outdoor activities.

Hi@vickyRoyalHistory , and many thanks for your kind thoughts. Most of the eyesight problem is not new, but means that I don't meet the particular standard for driving. I'll carry on with looking for alternative "transport solutions" so I can carry on with enjoying, and hopefully filming, the guard changes and bands.

lol. I played Gobbo in a mil band ( British) for over 16 yrs. and although I love to see the pipers, I absolutely hate the sound of them. I think it stems from doing loads of massed bands and whenever we were doing rehearsals for gigs, you could always rely on hearing the pipers screaming away in the background between performances. You would think that they would have had their daily “fix” of hearing themselves after the performances etc lol. I used to call them the “agony-bags”. The Germans had a good and apply named name. “The doudle sacks “. Forever doudling away .
