I think if you watch carefully ( the camera is a little high to see clearly) the centre RAF trombonist sees the plate first and starts the process, by kicking back on it. The Guards trombonist then flattens it completely. Quick thinking by all concerned, although I can't help thinking it should have been seen to by the police beforehand. It looked to me too that there was a policewoman looking directly at it before the march out, but didn't do anything!

There is no better thing than watching a perfectly coordinated drill. The way those first two squads march... as if they were shifting on the chessboard. Beautiful.

@@FloofyMinari From 4:54 are Grenadier Guards - you can tell by the even spacing of the buttons on their tunics, and the Grenadier's regimental badge on the collar. Also, no red plume on the right of the bearskin cap. The tall guy is possibly from The Queen's Company of The Grenadier Guards, as they are all 6ft+ tall. The bandsmen from 3:06 to 4:53 are Coldstream Guards.

I think it's just an illusion. If you look at the other guards, they're arranged to have the tallest at the front and the shortest at the back. So he looks massive compared to the shortest three guards at the back, but is probably just above average height.
@youtubeaccount57382 жыл бұрын
Oi, those are Gren Guards, not Coldstream Guards! Usually, Coldstream guard escorts (and other regiments besides the Grenadiers) don’t shout “Sir!” in response to the command “Out the escort!” Gren Guard escorts shout “Sir!” in response to that command.

You can see it clearly at 01:33 - a metal gate stop (which folds down flat and someone in the band has sensibly knocked it down shortly afterwards!). The DM is warning the Director of Music behind him so he doesn't trip! (and possibly the rest of the band).
