Changing the Guard London 20.10.2023 March Back to Barracks

Changing the guard in London on 20th October 2023. Featuring Band of the Irish Guards led by Drum Major Fitzgerald, with the kings guard as 19th Regiment Royal Artillery. 1st Battalion Welsh Guards with their corps of drums led by Drum Major Potts.
Hence why the Return to Barracks march was ‘British Grenadiers/Voice of the Guns’ a lovely march.

Another fantastic video mate!!! Some lovely drumming in "The Contemptibles"! It's actually the first march I learned to play on snare. The marches played were, (Band of the Irish Guards) 1) 0:51-Duchess of Kent 2) 2:10-The Contemptibles 3) 4:19-British Grenadiers & The Voice of the Guns (1st Bn. Welsh Guards Corps of Drums) 4) 5:54-Hazelmere

" I loved Hearing The Duchess of Kent slow March, but I always associate it with the King's Royal Troop Artillery. I thought it strange for the Royal Artillery to have the same slow march, considering the King's Royal Troop are Mounted, but then again they are both Artillery. But why they returned to Barracks with The British Grenadier has me stumped."

@@charlottecunningham2141 Hi Charlotte! I like the Duchess of Kent slow march too. The King's Royal Troop Artillery has it as their Slow March at the Trooping the Colour Parade. It always strikes me as very Regal.

@@vickyRoyalHistory Hello Dear Vicky! The march "Duchess of Kent" has been used by both the Royal Artillery and the King's Royal Horse Artillery for a long long time, unsure who adopted it first. The march was Composed circa 1836, by the Duchess of Kent, Louisa Victoria. The Reason you heard "British Grenadiers" and not just "The Voice of the Guns", is because traditionally all Regiments that wore or used the Grenade as a cap or identification badge, are allowed to use the march "British Grenadiers" as their Regimental Quick March. For example the Scottish Regiment The Royal Highland Fusiliers (now 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland), used "British Grenadiers" as part of their Quick Regimental march, even though they weren't Grenadiers and were a Scottish Regiment. But, they did use a Grenade as a cap/ identification badge. Hope this helps!

Another excellent Video Armed Forces Video! There's DM Scott Fitzgerald, with his own unique direction style of Signaling, makes it very easy to identify him, even without your very detailed description. The Old Guard of the Royal Artillery are very impressive with their Drill. I think part of it is the White Gloves they wear, just like the Kings Colour Squadron that's doing the Windsor Change at the moment, they look very, very Smart, those White Gloves really draw the eye, no lazy arm swings from any of them. I really like watching DM Sam Potts, the most energetic DM in the Household Division, he always seems to be enjoying himself, Bless him. I'm afraid I didn't watch much of the Welsh Corps of Drums going up to St James Palace, I'm beginning to hate "Hazelmere" almost as much as "Wellington" from being played so much. They played some different Marches the other day & I really enjoyed them, but alas back to "Hazelmere" we've gone. I loved Hearing The Duchess of Kent slow March, but I always associate it with the King's Royal Troop Artillery. But why they returned to Barracks with The British Grenadier has me stumped. Judging by the overcast sky & the Puddles at Wellington Barracks, it's clear that Summers over & Autumn's arrived with a vengeance. Exceptionally Good Job getting this Footage VAF!
